Dead Island 2 features an XP system that allows players to level up their characters as they progress through the game. Earning XP is an essential aspect of character development.

This article will cover how to gain XP in Dead Island 2, including the different ways to earn it and how it contributes to player progression.

How To Get XP in Dead Island 2

In Dead Island 2, players can earn XP from various sources, including killing zombies, completing story quests, side quests, and lost and found quests. By actively seeking out and completing these tasks, players can quickly accumulate XP. Whether players prefer to focus on combat or exploration, there are many ways to earn XP in Dead Island 2.

The easiest way and a way you’ll be doing a lot are killing zombies. You’ll gain a small portion of XP for each zombie you kill. This XP will increase as you progress through the game as zombies level with you. However, the gains in killing zombies aren’t that great since you’ll destroy many of them, and it’ll unbalance the game if it were any different.

The best way to get XP in Dead Island 2 is by completing quests, both Story and Side Quests. The amount of XP earns from quests increases as you level up yourself.

So the earlier quests in the game, you’ll net yourself about 2,000 XP, but in the latter half, you’ll get 6,000 EXP or more. Completing the story is easy enough to do and shouldn’t take you long at all to get through it. Finishing the side quests will take longer to do.

What Does Earning XP Do in Dead Island 2?

Skill Cards

In Dead Island 2, earning XP is crucial to unlocking Skill Cards. As players level up, they unlock new variations of skills that are represented by different card types. Initially, players can only unlock Abilities and Survivor cards, but as they progress, they unlock Slayer and Numen cards.

Additionally, players receive new cards upon reaching a new level, such as a new Ability card like Ground Pound. These new cards can be added to a player’s Skill Card deck, allowing them to enhance their character’s abilities and tailor their playstyle to their preferences.

Weapon Level Locking

Level locking is a feature in Dead Island 2 that applies to weapons, requiring players to be at the same level as the weapon to use it effectively. When a player’s character is at a lower level than a found weapon, the weapon is locked, and you cannot use it. It will become unlocked when you reach the same level as the weapon.

Therefore, players are encouraged to focus on leveling up their character and earning XP to unlock new weapons and gear that will aid them in defeating the zombie horde.
