When the battle starts, engage the animal you want to capture by attacking it with a party member, or by letting it engage one of your units. Thinning the rest of the pack isn’t necessary, but it does make the task easier.

What Is the Best Method for Capturing a Wild Animal in WarTales?

Once the enemy is below 50%, flank the animal with another character. You will need to have a rope in your inventory to attempt this. The chance of catching the animal isn’t 100%, so it’s advisable to bring multiple ropes just in case. When you go to attack the animal with your flanking member, you will see the knock-out ability appear on your action bar. It will also show you your estimated chance of success. On successful knock out, the animal will be captured at round’s end and added to your party. On unsuccessful knock out, the party member will have exhausted their basic attack, and one rope will be used. You can try again with another member, or, if your engaged member is holding up, skip through turns until you can use the flanking party member again.

This should be all you need to begin building your animal army. Be sure to pair them with a beastmaster to get the most out of your animal companions.
