Hogwarts Legacy takes you on exciting adventures through the famous wizardry boarding school, Hogwarts. Players must use a variety of spells and wits to get through bloodthirsty enemies and solve puzzles. A puzzle that has left a number of players baffled comes as the first part of the High Keep quest.
You must climb the battlements and unlock a gate. Seems simple enough? Most players beg to differ. To make things easier, we have compiled a step-by-step guide to get you through it effortlessly.

How To Climb the Battlements To Unlock The Gate in Hogwarts Legacy
Once you progress to Falbarton Castle, you will meet Natty to receive the High Wall quest. Since the gate ahead is locked, you need to look for a way to climb the battlements and unlock the gate from inside so Natty can follow up. Brooms are not allowed during this quest, so you will have to look for another way.

If you pan your camera to the right while facing the gate, you will see a ruined tower elevation. That is where you will come across the seemingly-unclimbable battlement. In case you can’t find it, look for the quest’s direction indicator. It will lead you right to the obstacle. Once you are on the battlement, follow these steps:
- Look to your left to find a small gate with a box behind it. There will be a gear level on the wall beside it.
- Use your Depulso spell on the level to force it open. This should open the gate to your right, unlocking the box behind it.
- Now, using Wingardium Leviosa, pull the box out of the chamber and place it right in front of the structure you need to climb.
- You’ll need to place this box vertically as horizontally it won’t make up the height to help you climb up the battlement. Once you have placed it vertically in front of the battlement, just get on top of it and jump to climb up the battlement.
For some players, placing the box in the right position might seem tricky, especially if you’re playing on a PC. If it doesn’t work for you, don’t worry. All you need to do is use your Leviosa spell to hold the box in place while you climb it.
Note: Leviosa allows you to hold objects in the air without keeping the spell cast, while Wingardium Leviosa only provides temporary levitation.
Once you have completed this part, the rest of the High Keep mission should be easy. The only part that may trouble you could be spell selection, but you can easily figure that out as well with a couple of tries.
