Trying to figure out how to change your appearance in Hogwarts Legacy? We’ve got you covered. We’ll go over what you can do to change up your look, from equipping gear items to getting a new hairstyle.
Hogwarts Legacy offers up extensive character customization options following the initial creation process. From donning robes with various stat buffs to changing up your hairstyle, there’s a lot you can do to achieve a new look. While your hair and facial features don’t affect your overall stats, the gear you equip can ultimately lend you greater abilities and other benefits in combat. That said, you’ll want to experiment with your appearance to better your build. Luckily, you won’t need to sacrifice style to optimize your stats. Here’s how to change your look in Hogwarts Legacy.
How to Change Your Gear in Hogwarts Legacy
As you make progress in the story and collect new Gear items in Hogwarts Legacy, you can easily equip and remove different pieces to achieve a better build. These include handwear, facewear, headwear, neckwear, robes, and outfits. You can even equip various wand handles and broom styles once they become available. To wear a piece of Gear, just head into the game’s main menu and choose Gear.
From the selection, choose the type of Gear item you want to equip. You can then browse the different pieces you’ve purchased and collected. Once you’ve decided, simply select the desired piece to equip it to your character.
Changing Your Gear’s Appearance
When you hover over each Gear type in the menu, you’ll have the option to change its appearance. By doing this, you can keep the stats of the item you’ve equipped while taking on the appearance of a different piece of Gear. For example, my character is equipped with the Noblesse Coat. However, I’ve changed its appearance to the Currant Patterned Longcoat.
Some Gear pieces only appear in this menu, so you’ll want to browse your options from time to time. Most often, promotional Gear items will show up here.
Making Gear Invisible
While you can change the look of a Gear item you’ve equipped to your character, you can also make that piece invisible. This comes in handy if you’d rather not be seen wearing Gear that doesn’t fit your style. To do this, click Change Appearance when you hover over the type of Gear you want to change.
At the top of the display menu, you’ll see an empty slot with a red circle and slash icon. Click this to make the piece of Gear you’re wearing invisible.

How to Change Your Hairstyle in Hogwarts Legacy
At the start of your Hogwarts Legacy playthrough, you’ll undergo a pretty extensive character creation process. At this point, you’ll choose your character’s hairstyle, hair color, and more. Fortunately, you can change up your ‘do if you feel the need for a new look later on. You’ll just need to head over to Madam Snelling’s Tress Emporium in Hogsmeade. This shop is marked with a scissors icon on your map of the shopping district, as pictured above.
Changing your hairstyle won’t cost much, and you’ll have a lot of options to choose from. For a new cut, you’ll just need to pay around 20 Galleons. Coloring your hair will add to the price, but not by much.
Can You Change Your Facial Features in Hogwarts Legacy?
You can’t change your base facial features once you’ve created your character in Hogwarts Legacy. This means your face and eye shape can’t be altered following the initial creation process. However, you can change your character’s eyebrows and complexion at Madam Snelling’s Tress Emporium in Hogsmeade once you have access to the bustling village.
