Sometimes the leaks are exciting. Other times, they are simply terrifying. Unfortunately, the latter was the case once the leaked Automaton Assault Strider saw the light of day on social media, as Helldivers 2 players looked at it in horror.

Leaks Offer a First Glance at the Automaton Assault Strider

One very experienced leaker, IronS1ghts, shared quite an image of the Automaton Assault Strider. They noted: “Updated Automaton Assault Strider. Nice little render I did for the Assault Strider using its updated textures and model”.

As if this picture wasn’t scary enough, the leaker shared some more details, including the Automaton Assault Strider’s abilities. The leaker added: “The Assault Strider fits right in between the Hulk and Factory Strider. It seems to be ready to put in-game. Here are all of the abilities for it“. Among the abilities, there are melee stomp, fire rockets, fire moving, etc.

One devoted player, Draculasaurus_Rex, made an image that compared the alleged size of the Automaton Assault Strider to the sizes of units already in the game. We wouldn’t want to stumble upon this unit alone, least to say.

Helldivers 2 Players Are Horrified by the Leaked Automaton Unit

Well, it’s nice to see the community agree on a matter, for once. Not many Helldivers 2 players were excited by the leaked Automaton Assault Strider. The generally accepted reaction was: “We’re in trouble”.

One player, DragonHeartz, half-joked: “What’s next? This one spits out a group of Jetpack Hulks on its belly?”. Several players thought they were looking at a design by a fan, only to be left speechless when they figured out it was a leak.

Of course, some players tried to guess how this unit would fit in. OffaShortPier suggested: “Reinforced Scout Striders replace normal Scout Striders on difficulty 8+. You already know Arrowhead is going to make this one replace Scout Striders on diff 10”. Well, if that turns out to be true, players playing on Super Helldive difficulty will get the challenge they desperately ask for.

Well, we’re thankful that these bad boys aren’t in the game just yet. So, to celebrate, we’ll go fight some bugs for the Major Order, the future of the DSS is at stake. Will you join us? For Liberty and Super Earth.
