The awards just keep coming! It’s been quite a successful awards season for Arroowhead! So far, they’ve had several wins at the D.I.C.E. Awards, a Steam Award, and four wins at the Golden Joystick Awards. Sounds like a shelf full of awards! However, after yesterday’s BAFTA Games Awards, Helldivers 2 developers will have to find room for two more trophies.
Helldivers 2 Won Two BAFTA Awards
Helldivers 2 was nominated in five categories: Audio Achievement, Music, Game Design, Multiplayer, and Best Game. They won BAFTAs for the best Multiplayer and Music.
Well, first up, the development team took home a BAFTA for the best Multiplayer. Anyone who has ever played this game knows that this win is absolutely deserved.
Johan Pilestedt, the CCO of Arrowhead, accepted the award. In his speech, he reflected on how incredibly important games were to connecting people. Through games, one can stay connected with friends worldwide. Of course, he thanked the entire dev team, most of which was on the stage with him.
Later on, Pilestedt posted a photo of the BAFTA on his personal X account. He simply noted: “Well then…!”.
Also, Wilbert Roget II, Ross Tregenza, and Keith Leary won a BAFTA for Music in Helldivers 2. Again, the music in this game provides players with a wonderful experience, and many have testified to being scared to play with the music turned off.
Helldivers 2 players worldwide celebrated the two trophies that the devs won at the BAFTA Games Awards. Even though the much-anticipated update didn’t come, most of the messages were congratulatory and overwhelmingly positive. One player, Rick&Marx, noted: “No way! Congratulations! Well-deserved! Democracy conquers all”.
Great games deserve to win big awards, such as the BAFTAs! So, congrats, Arrowhead, well done! As for you, dear Helldiver, meet us on Varylia 5, let’s complete this Major Order. For Liberty and Super Earth.
