Even though Super Earth is under attack, today, May 20, feels like a celebration of Managed Democracy. On this day, Helldivers 2 received the Heart of Democracy title update, causing the player numbers to suddenly skyrocket. So, how many Helldivers are currently on Super Earth? Over 140k.
Helldivers Are Rushing to Defend Super Earth Following the Update
We haven’t seen this many active players in a long while. It’s worth mentioning that it’s just a random Tuesday (May 20) at the time of writing this article. The majority of players are still probably stuck at work / in school. Still, more than 140k players are fighting the Illuminate on Super Earth.
We’ve collected data from SteamDB, so the following numbers only count the players playing via Steam. According to SteamDB, at the time of writing this article, 130,5k players are in the game. And, we can only expect this number to grow in the following hours.
Now, compared to the Helldivers 2 player numbers in the last six months, these numbers are extremely high; the only time they’ve been higher was following the Omens of Tyranny update. And let’s keep in mind that it’s been less than five hours since Heart of Democracy dropped.
As you can see, when Omens of Tyranny (OT) dropped, the number of players peaked at around 150k. Ever since then, the numbers have been steadily dropping, with occasional peaks when an update would drop.
On May 12, just before the previous update dropped, the highest number of concurrent players was around 32k. On May 14, a day after the update, that number was around 104k. However, that’s nothing compared to the current number of players.
So, around 130k players are playing via Steam. The full number of active players is actually 165k, with almost 150k players on Super Earth. In other words, Helldivers won’t let those pesky Squids and “Meatballs” ruin the pillar of Managed Democracy.
Players Are Loving the Helldivers 2 Renaissance and High Numbers
The community is in high spirits, even though Super Earth is under attack. The players have been waiting for an opportunity to fight on Super Earth ever since the game dropped. They won’t let a chance like this slip away. We wouldn’t be surprised if the player numbers passed 200k in the next several hours.
As for Helldivers, they relished in the fact that this was it, this was the battle that would go down in history, alongside the Creek, Meridia, and Calypso. OrranVoriel noted: “Helldivers, this is our finest hour. Do not count days, do not count miles! Count only the number of Squids you have killed! Go! For Super Earth”.
