A buff a day until the update initiative has proved to be a wonderful idea. So far, the players know about the Flamethrower, the Breaker Shotgun, and the Railgun buffs. On day 4, Helldivers 2 developers flipped the script and revealed that Rocket Devastators would get a nerf in the update. Technically, a nerf to an enemy is a buff for the player, right?
Rocket Devastators’ Nerf Is a Great Buff
On September 13, Johan Pilestedt and Niklas Malmborg made another announcement in a video posted on X. The dynamic duo revealed that today’s buff is actually a nerf to Rocket Devastators.
The accompanying notes read: “Rocket Devastators now has a limited number of rockets, and you can see them disappear when they are spent. A reload mechanic is added from their backpack to replenish the rockets. In addition, the rocket physics collision is now smaller, making them easier to avoid”.
Niklas Malmborg also revealed that the Rocket Devastators would only be able to reload once. Also, the aforementioned collision of the rockets will actually be much smaller, as it will be reduced by 80% in the update, as confirmed by the dynamic duo.
Helldivers 2 Players Knew There Would Be a Nerf in the Update
Slowly, but surely, the community is becoming more and more trusting and optimistic. The nerf to Rocket Devastators in the upcoming update was just what the doctor prescribed, as Helldivers 2 players praised the developers for their efforts.
One player, mda195, noted: “It’s pretty crazy how well the devs have handled the numerous negative community reactions. It’s really commendable how they tightened down messaging and can repeatedly take criticism while being willing to give it another go with patches and positivity. I can’t imagine it’s easy, but they seem to have a massive desire for the game to be successful”.
Other players couldn’t resist joking around, mostly about how they knew there would have to be a nerf in the update. One Redditor, sokaku4711, joked: “I’d laugh if they also secretly had a resupply bot in the making. It would spawn in dozens, lining up behind any bigger bots that may need ammo”.
It’s lovely to see this community and the developers on the same page again. The developers are truly showing their dedication to the player base by making these adjustments. Hopefully, the players will be satisfied with the finished product. We can’t wait for day 5 of the buffs.
