After they used all the gambits and obliterated the bugs in the previous MO, it’s time for a change of pace. The players are still playing defense, but this time, it’s against the Illuminate. The pesky Squids are launching attacks left and right, and the Helldivers 2 players have to deal with them for the current Major Order. However, the fact that the Helldivers have already realized what the Illuminate are doing might come in useful for all these defenses.
The Squids Are Popping Left and Right in the Current Major Order
The new Major Order began on April 21. The devs issued a briefing via the Helldivers 2 official X account. This briefing partially explained what was going on and what the divers’ goal was.
It noted that the Center of Science on Fenrir III and the construction site of the Repulsive Gravity Field Generator on Pilen V were under attack. Seeing Pilen V piqued many players’ interest, as this planet was recently featured in some leaks about a possible update.
The briefing stated that the Squids’ intentions were clear. They aim at foiling the Helldivers’ attempt at stopping the Meridian Singularity. Thus, the Helldivers have to stop them.
While doing so, the players are ordered to collect as many Voteless specimens as they can. Super Earth scientists might finally understand how the Squids control the former citizens.
So, the current Major Order sends Helldivers 2 players to fend off 5 Squids’ attacks, and, um, liberate 1,25 billion Voteless. At the time of writing this article, the players have three days and ten hours to do so. They’ve already successfully defended against one attack and killed around 120 million Voteless.
The attack on Turing is in progress, and the Xenoentomology Center is at risk. This led many players to realize that the Squids had been attacking the major research centers in an attempt to keep the Meridian Singularity going. This realization could help the players plan for the next attacks and come up with a strategy beforehand.
Some Helldivers 2 Players Don’t Really Care What Will Happen With Squids
Well, unsurprisingly, Helldivers are pretty uninterested in what’s going on with the Squids. Some players are sick and tired of the current defense missions, and they crave some new content.
One player, Qzzz, suggested: “Guys, just let them take it, lose next 5 MO and watch Joel scramble”. Now, this sounds quite undemocratic, but it might prompt J.O.E.L to do something fun.
Still, there are plenty of players trying their best to complete the MO. Defending against five attacks shouldn’t be a problem, but collecting that many Voteless will be challenging in such a short period.
Unformed8 advised: “After the 5 invasions repelled, if someone wants to help farm Voteless, just go into a raise flag mission. When a drop ship comes, just run out of the objective progress area, kill the wave, and run back in to summon another one”.
So, dear diver, no matter how annoying the lack of content is, we’ll always advise you to keep fighting. The update is close, let’s just get through the current MO. We’ll meet you on Turing. For Liberty and Super Earth.
