The majority of Helldivers know that a third enemy faction exists. The Illuminate (or Squids) suffered a great loss in the First Galactic War and are yet to show their ugly faces in the Second one. However, occasionally the players will get a glimpse of them, usually in the form of leaks. Therefore, the Helldivers 2 players know the Illuminate exist somewhere in the files, and the newest leaks suggest they might be closer than you think.
Helldivers 2 Might Get a New Faction Soon, According to Leaks
One very prolific leaker, IronS1ghts, has been continually providing the community with exciting leaks. This time was no different, as they gave the players a new hope for the arrival of the Illuminate.
This leaker posted a short video where a text states the OP was fighting against the Illuminate on Gar Haren. The OP simply stated: “(Leak) Something to think about”.
Let’s break this down. Gar Haren? So, this planet is in the Jin Xi Sector, and the Terminids currently occupy it. Interestingly enough, and you might remember this, back in September, the third enemy faction briefly appeared on the Galactic map, awfully close to the Jin Xi Sector, divided only by one sector. So, the fan-made theory that the Illuminate might come through the Meridia black hole and make their way to their part of the map might turn out to be correct.
Helldivers Wish to Know the ETA on the Illuminate
Players were justifiably excited by the possibility of fighting the Squids in the near future. Many wanted to know if there were any indications of when they’d finally have that chance. Unfortunately, not even these leaks could reveal when exactly the Illuminate would arrive in Helldivers 2.
The OP noted: “Still too soon to say. We’ll know for sure once the models are added back to the files. I’d say (Hopefully) within the next 3 months, but I have absolutely no idea”. They added: “I highly doubt it’s December. Pretty sure AH will take leave for Christmas and they don’t like pushing out large updates without being in the office to push hotfixes. Most likely it’ll be February”.
So, it might be a while before we get to face the Squids. Make sure to brush up on the veterans’ advice on how to fight them, just in case. In the meantime, meet us on the bug front, the Major Order is in progress, and the bugdivers need all the help they can get. For Liberty and Super Earth.
