The Battle for Super Earth in Helldivers 2 started on May 20. It’s been a long time coming, and the Helldivers were ready. However, every war takes its toll, so the players are starting to miss the safety of “filler” Major Orders. For the first time since the game launched, the Objective “Hold Super Earth” actually doesn’t mean “take a day off” but rather “get back in the trenches”.
Battle for Super Earth Rages on
At the time of writing this article, Helldivers have been fighting on Super Earth for 9 days. The Battle for Super Earth went through two stages, and it’s now in its third and final stage. The first stage started when the Heart of Democracy update dropped. It was gory and bloody, but the Helldivers were victorious.
The second stage was something else. The pace seemed slower as the previous Major Order prioritized low-level difficulty missions to help acclimate the new Cadets. Unfortunately, the players lost. The change of pace and the first-ever dual MO took them by surprise, and they finished the MO at 98%.
Horrifying loss, but the show must go on, right? Well, the latest Major Order simply asks the players to “Hold Super Earth”. It might sound easy enough, but out of 7 mega cities, 3 fell, 3 are about to fall, and only one will remain. We expect Prosperity City to be the place of one of the biggest battles Helldivers have ever seen.
All this stress and anxiety made some players think of the simpler times. This isn’t the first time a Major Order has asked Helldivers to “Hold Super Earth”. Helldivers received the same MO for Liberty Day and the Festival of Reckoning (Christmas). However, nothing happened during these MOs. Players fought on the fronts they wanted to, without worrying for the future of Managed Democracy.
Helldivers Miss the Slow Major Orders, but They’ll Never Give Up
Now, don’t get us wrong, the number of Helldivers 2 players skyrocketed once the Battle for Super Earth started. However, the players started appreciating the “good old days” way more as the pressure of fending off the Illuminate reached its peak.
One player, Unsafetybelt, noted: “I’ve axed 1000 voteless! That’s our own people! PTSD cry“. Now, as with all big battles in the history of Helldivers 2, this one will be talked about for ages. Veterans from the Creek, Meridia, and Calypso will gladly testify to that. And, sure, you can expect some PTSD, but your community will be there to support you!
Still, Helldivers won’t give up. ToastedDreamer stated: “Fight on! Fight on! We must fight harder, each of us must fight with more fury than the divers who left us, we can track them down for making us work later but now we must hold firm”.
After all, Helldivers promised to keep fighting and prevent Super Earth from falling, even though some leaks suggest it will fall. So, dear diver, get your freshly buffed Masters of Ceremony armor and join us! For Liberty and Super Earth.
