On October 1, the developers of Helldivers 2 issued a small patch to fix some of the issues. However, there was one unexpected item on the list of fixes. In this hotfix, General Brasch and the Helldivers 2 developers revealed how much they cared for Moo Deng, the viral pygmy hippo.
Helldivers 2 Hotfix Addresses Many Issues
The latest hotfix boasts some pretty standard and expected fixes. The developers focused on fixing the issues that crashed the game. Some of the rare issues were finally solved, such as the game crashing when a player reloads the weapon, or when the player opens the chat. The devs also fixed the crash caused by unique Stim Pistol owners leaving the game, as well as the one when equipping any purchased Hellpod skins on a fresh account.
Besides the crash fixes, there were also some miscellaneous fixes. The devs noted: “Fixed bug where the Helldivers wearing heavy armors would be immune to the gas status effect. Can no longer call down multiple seismic probes and prospecting drills at the same time. Bots will not get stuck shooting at walls as frequently during evacuate high-value asset missions”.
After many complaints, the developers decided to issue a fix for the silent, but deadly enemies. They explained: “The audio for all Bug and Bot enemies has been cleaned up and re-balanced recently. The goal was to make enemy audio more balanced between each enemy type and to make enemies more audible in various situations. It will be subjective, but, please keep on the lookout for moments where you think the audio should have informed you about the enemy’s presence but didn’t”.
Of course, all of these fixes are great and will make the game more stable and enjoyable. However, the devs saved the best for last. The last item on this extensive list was: “General Brasch-issued Protection Order for pygmy hippos implemented (The Moo Deng Accord)”.
Moo Deng Gets Protection by General Brasch
As much as we love Moo Deng, we have to admit that seeing her name in the Helldivers 2 hotfix took us by surprise. Many players felt the same, especially the ones who hadn’t heard about her before seeing her name in the hotfix.
Now, if you are one of those people, let us introduce you to Moo Deng. She is an adorable pygmy hippo, around two months old, living in a zoo in Thailand. Her name reportedly means bouncy pig. This baby pygmy hippo became an overnight sensation on the internet due to her playful and sassy attitude. She quickly became the star of many memes and was even featured on SNL. Overall, she conquered the world by being adorable. So maybe General Brasch has some bigger plans for her.
The Helldivers were quite vocal about gladly protecting Moo Deng. Offstar1029 noted: “We must ensure we uphold The Moo Deng Accord at all costs”. Other players came up with a slightly different term for Managed Democracy. They now fight for Moo-Deng-ed Democracy, as they should.
Honestly, who doesn’t like getting some good news? We believe many players appreciated this nod to the adorable pygmy hippo. But now, it’s time to return to your duties and make some democratic mistakes. For Moo-Deng-ed Democracy and Super Earth.
