After the Major Order on Gaellivare was completed, the construction of the Democracy Space Station started. Ever since then, the players have been sharing their ideas and expectations for the DSS. On October 3, the Helldivers 2 developers shared the full blueprints of the Democracy Space Station and some very interesting new information.
The Blueprints Give a Closer Look at the Democracy Space Station
The official Helldivers 2 account on X revealed some new details in a lengthy post. The devs stated: “ATTENTION HELLDIVERS. Please closely review these blueprints for the upcoming Democracy Space Station. Once complete, the Democracy Space Station will be a new strategic-level weapon. It will wield powerful, Helldiver-directed weaponry to aid in the liberation of its orbited planet. Through a cutting-edge voting system, the Helldivers will determine where to deploy the DSS, and when to use its capabilities”.
As you can see in the blueprints, the DSS will have the Location Agnostic Transmission System, protective plating, Weapons Bay, the FTL Accelerator and Stabilizer, as well as Targeting Systems for Liberty Distribution. The overall design is quite cool.
Pay Attention to the Fine Print on the Blueprints, Helldivers!
Now, you know you have to read the fine print, especially when you deal with Super Earth. Much like the patch notes, the blueprints have a lengthy list of known issues. They include:
- -Beams in SECTOR 77C lacking structural integrity Risk of collapse (See attachment A30)
- -E-710 drive combustion sparks unstable Risk of self-combustion at use over 33mp/h
- -Insufficient space for lavatories. Removed to make space f. sentry repair units.
- -Insufficient budget f. pressure equalization. Current pressure calculations estimated-235 mmHg.
- Projections show Bedding f. living spaces not within budget reach. Donations from Super Citizen Anne’s Hospital for Very Sick Children to compensate. Reward children w. (1) time held trip to DSS for heroic sacrifice f. Democracy?
Last, but not least, the blueprints contain a Confidential Disclaimer, and we might all be committing treason just by reading this. It read: “For Ministry of Defense eyes only. Any similarity to other battle stations, real or imagined, is coincidental. The Democracy Space Station is the property of Super Earth and her people, and unlawful possession of this document is equal to stealing from all of humanity. If found, return to the Ministry of Defense representative and report to your Loyalty Officer for questioning”.
Helldivers 2 Players Prefer Managed to True Democracy
Some Helldivers 2 players were quite concerned by the information about the Democracy Space Station, but not because of the fine print in the blueprints. The biggest concern was the voting system. Since the majority of players prefer fighting the bugs, will the DSS be used solely on the bug front?
Ethan4647 noted: “I understand that the DSS isn’t even finished yet but I can already see issues in the future when it comes to voting where the DSS will be the most beneficial. Bug divers will always have full control of where the DSS will go because of the voting system. Hurting the bot front even more when it comes to bot MOs and planet defense”.
Another player, MaxPatriotism, added: “This is exactly what’s gonna happen. That’s why I think the DSS should move in accordance to major orders and not player votes”. However, some players joked that bugdivers weren’t that invested, so they’d carry on squishing bugs and leave the DSS to botdivers.
Of course, some players had even bigger concerns. Enough-Celery-2619 stated: “Contrary to popular opinion, I think a voting system seems cool, but that’s not why I’m worried. we’re gonna complete this whole DSS thing, and maybe we’ll get to use it a couple of times, but then suddenly out of nowhere, the Illuminate show up and destroy it while we’re in the middle of a normal MO”.
That would be extremely cool, but, unfortunately, a little far-fetched. The devs probably wouldn’t put in all the effort in creating something of that size just to destroy it immediately. Or, would they? We’ll have to wait and see, although the Illuminate are reportedly coming. Whichever way the devs choose to take, we hope for some accompanying fixes, mainly to Eradicate and ragdolling. For Liberty and Super Earth.
