“That’s a First!” Helldivers 2 Players Have to Liberate Planets From Squids for the Latest Major Order

Helldivers 2 player on the Illuminate front.

Ever since the Illuminate arrived back in December 2024, Helldivers have been playing defense. Well, not anymore! Super Earth scientists have been able to “uncloak” a part of the Galactic Map, and they discovered some of the Illuminate settlements. So, the new Major Order sends Helldivers 2 players to liberate the planets and take back the territory that belongs to Super Earth.

Helldivers Need to Liberate Four Planets for the Major Order

The Squids are back on the menu! The MO arrived on June 6, and, as always, a briefing arrived with it. The devs shared it on the official Helldivers 2 X account. They started by addressing the win against the Automatons in the previous MO. Helldivers used the DSS just as it was intended and secured the win.

The briefing went on to explain that the “first scattered dregs” of Squdis were located. It noted: “These fugitive militants have been traced to several outlying systems, including previous combat zones already ravaged by the Illuminate. Orbital reconnaissance indicates expedited fleet reconstruction efforts, indicating these sites may have been pre-staged by the enemy in the event their invasion of Super Earth failed, as it did, catastrophically”.

Furthermore, these hideouts might not be the only ones. According to some intel, there are probably more Illuminate planets waiting to be identified. So, this MO won’t be one and done, it’s the start of a new era.

The Helldivers 2 community has to fry plenty of Squids and liberate 4 planets for the current Major Order. The planets are Mog, Hydrobius, Haldus, and Bellatrix. Unfortunately, that is quite a task! At the time of writing this article, players have a little less than 3 days to complete the MO. They have lost all progress on all planets, except Mog (currently at around 25%).

Helldivers 2 Players Think They’re Meant to Fail

Well, this one will be tough to complete. Many Helldivers have already accepted the loss, but more than 40k are still valiantly doing their duty. Naturally, the community was abuzz with various predictions and expectations.

One player, Constant_Resource840, noted: “It’s a trap. We’re being set up to lose. Firstly, its a new campaign type. They’re liberation campaigns. Every Illuminate campaign before now has been under the Invasion or Defense type. Secondly, to state something a bit more obvious, the Illuminate occupy these 4 planets, and they occupied from the shadows”.

Another player, 6RDC9, added: “So all these illuminate planets are 2 or more resistance and with 40k players we’re gonna liberate one planet in 30 days!!! Yeah, we’re cooked”.

As for the future, well, armed_tortoise offered a possible scenario. This player compared the current situation to the ones we’d all seen in movies. A huge battle was won, and now it’s time to clean up, examine alien technology, and hunt the rest of the enemies down.

This player stated: “We are basically Super Earth’s Super advanced pest control. And from here on, I am pretty sure that most of the planets in the galactic ‘South’ are infested with Illuminate Hideouts – they had about five months, where they attacked human colonies”.

And this aligns with the upcoming Force of Law Warbond! So, dear Helldiver, get ready! The season of hunting Squids is open! We’ll meet you on Mog, let’s fight together. For Liberty and Super Earth.
