Sometimes we all make a mistake in getting pulled down and conforming to the loudest voices in the community, even if we don’t truly agree with them. In those times, it’s refreshing to see someone step up and disagree. The unsatisfying update enraged many players, and some even quit the game. Social media is full of negative comments and rants. In contrast, more and more Helldivers 2 players are stepping up and sharing why teamwork is crucial to the game’s survival.
Players Agree That Teamwork Makes the Game
Some players don’t need to time travel, as they still merrily return to the game daily. Sure, no one is happy with the nerfs, but these players accept the changes and carry on. As the game changes all the time, so will these unfortunate balancing mistakes. The important thing is that teamwork is the basis of Helldivers 2.
The community is what makes every game, especially a PvE squad-based one. Weapons and Stratagems are fun, but camaraderie and working together for a common goal is what keeps the players in-game. One player, DerBernd123, noted: “For real. Arrowhead f**ks up the balancing/performance, and suddenly everyone forgets all the good and player-friendly aspects the game has to offer”.
ExtensionYam8549 explained: “Balance in a game is an art and not a science. I love the Incendiary Breaker and it sucks the mags got nerfed. But everyone was using it. How boring for us. Consider the nerfs as a way to push the community to use some stuff they never would have tried. My personal build has changed with every update”.
Fans Share Why They Keep Playing Helldivers 2
Other Helldivers 2 players took the opportunity to praise other aspects of the game, besides the teamwork. One player, Zestyclose-Sink4438, shared: “Boom! Splat! Dramatic scream and rolls over. The bugs are some of the biggest drama queens”.
BolioWithPolio managed to describe the adrenaline rush we all feel while playing. They noted: “I love the absolute chaos and excitement of higher difficulty missions. Playing with my friends while we’re frantically trying to complete our objectives/extract is so overwhelming and exciting. By the time we barely extract, I’m on an adrenaline high and ready for the next mission”.
AnemoneMeer added: “I enjoy the gunplay being more tactical and less twitch due to the weapon drag mechanics, so I don’t feel penalized for not having perfect twitch-turning reflexes. I enjoy the Stratagem system quite a lot. I really enjoy the feeling of being a tank or support in cooperative games but not feeling like I’m limited to just being the damage sponge”.
As for us, our reason for sticking with Helldivers 2 through thick and thin, is, and always will be, the amazing community. No matter the hardships of some players, they can always count on this community to have their backs. We can’t even imagine the number of times we were saved by a random team member who barely knew us. Players going out of their way to help out their fellow soldiers is what keeps this game alive and well.
