“Stop Displaying Private Lobbies” Players Urge Helldivers 2 Devs to Make a Change

Ship interior in Helldivers 2

Sometimes, after having a long day, you want to play some games and unwind. You search the Galactic Map for the perfect place to dive, and find it, only to receive the dreaded message. Many players claim this is one of the most annoying aspects of the game currently. Recently, there have been more and more Helldivers 2 players who beg the devs not to display the private lobbies on the Galactic Map.

Private Lobbies Shouldn’t Be Shown on the Galactic Map

It’s happened to all of us, we’ve all seen an SOS and decided to help out fellow Helldivers in their struggle. Then getting this message: “Lobby is private. You don’t have permission to join”. For some reason, we’ve been getting these messages quite often recently. Apparently, so have other players.

One player, im-just-matt, noted: “Often these missions will have an SOS active but the lobbies are private. We only discover they are private after trying to join, and then the game is cached on our device. This means us players need to swap maps to refresh the active game list”.

Now, the funny thing is that reportedly, those SOS beacons are oftentimes accidentally activated. You see, the players mess up the reinforcement combination, thus calling down the SOS beacon. So, in the majority of cases, not only are the lobbies private, but the players don’t need any help.

Helldivers 2 Developers Know About This Issue

If you read patch notes, you probably already know that this problem is actually on the medium-priority list of known issues. The latest patch notes state: “Friends “Invite only” games can still be seen on the Galactic War Map but cannot be joined”.

Is there anything you can do while you wait for Helldivers 2 devs to remove the private lobbies from the Galactic Map? Well, yes and no. You can’t filter out the private lobbies in any way, but you might be able to avoid them.

RallyPointAlpha suggested: “Until then, hit R to have it randomly choose a lobby at that difficulty level and planet. Quickplay actually knows to avoid these and full lobbies. If there are no available lobbies, it starts checking lower difficulties. So sometimes you drop in s different difficulty”.

We know how annoying this issue is, however, let’s give the devs some time to cook. With all the recent changes and new progress with the Major Orders, we’d say the developers deserved some credit. So, let’s go fight some bots, and give the devs some space to work. For Super Earth and Managed Democracy.
