Should the Helldivers 2 Players Expect Another Patch as the 60-Day Period Reaches Its End?

Helldivers 2 500KG Bomb Eagle Impact

As you most likely know, the infamous 60-day deadline is coming to its end and the Helldivers 2 fans are eager to find out if there will be one final patch. Even though the majority of the players are more than happy with the one huge update that “fixed” the game, should they be expecting another patch before the time runs out?

Helldivers 2 Community Manager Teased a Patch

On October 10, the Community Manager known as Baskinator took to Discord and teased the possibility of another patch. She answered a fan asking when the end of the 60 days was. Baskinator simply noted: “It’s coming up this weekend I think? We aren’t done yet”.

On the morning of October 11, Baskinator answered another burning question – would there be another patch by October 12, the last day of the 60-day period? She stated: “There will be another patch”. At the same time, Baskinator also confirmed that they’d share more details on the patch.

This statement came as quite a surprise, as the majority of Helldivers 2 players didn’t count on another patch before the end of this 60-day period. Although we have to admit, as much as we loved the bombastic announcements for the previous patch, we love a teased patch just the same.

Developers Reveal the Date and the Details of the Patch

The devs delivered, yet again! Well, sort of. Given that the last day of those 60 days falls on a Saturday, the devs extended their deadline a bit. The next patch will be on day 63, on October 15, as revealed by Johan Pilestedt and Niklas Malmoborg in the most recent video posted on the official Helldivers 2 page on X.

The devs admitted that they had to break the deadline because they hadn’t checked the calendar before they announced the 60-day period. Releasing a patch on a weekend could go horribly wrong. They also teased some amazing changes to come with the final update. Among the changes are:

  • They introduced flak to the Autocannon
  • They added programmable ammo to the Recoilless Riffle
  • The Scorcher will have automatic fire
  • The Stalwart will have some of the “nicest changes”
  • You’ll be able to recall and let out your drone with a Backpack option

As you may have expected, the community was more than understanding for this small delay. One player, red_cactus, noted: “As General Brasch says, there can be no liberation without communication. Good on them for being upfront about the fact that the patch will come out a few days after the 60-day deadline”.

Helldivers Have Enjoyed the 60-Day Period

With a couple of days left until the end of the 60-day period, the Helldivers 2 players are mostly overjoyed with how it turned out, and even though they are excited for the upcoming patch, they would be just as happy without it. The devs actually listened to the fans and did their best to deliver a solid product.

SparkleFritz noted: “I quit before this 60-day thing was announced and came back after the recent patch. The game feels way more balanced. Primary weapons feel great almost all around. I don’t know about the fire fix they mentioned, but everything feels great now. I’m so glad to be back and this last patch fixed pretty much everything I had issues with”.

The game is now in its renaissance phase. Toohon stated: “The recent buff patch made enjoyable gameplay extremely enjoyable for me. I can’t wait to go home and dive again”. Rakan_Fury added: “I’d go with more performance optimization. Otherwise, it feels like they hit all the points and more with the last patch”.

Honestly, we adored the last patch and everything that came with it. It showed us that the devs were truly dedicated to the players, which isn’t all that common in the gaming world. So, let’s truly enjoy and reward the devs’ hard work by defending the DSS while we wait for October 15. For Liberty and Super Earth.
