Should Gas Be Flammable in the Upcoming Warbond? Helldivers 2 Players Give Their Two Cents

As the wait for the Chemical Agents Warbond is nearing its end, there are more and more speculations about what the players should expect. Obviously, bugdivers will have a field day with all the gas weapons, but other divers are concerned about how useful those weapons will be on the bot front. Well, according to some Helldivers 2 players, there is a simple solution – developers should make gas flammable in the new Warbond.

Some Players Would Love for Gas to be Flammable

Since the announcement of the Chemical Agents Warbond, on September 12, there has been a lot of buzz around the idea of making gas combustible. Most of the players love the idea of gassing an area and then setting it all on fire.

One player, argefox, suggested: “Gas should combust when applied a certain amount of fire damage. I want my orbital gas to be detonated by my orbital shrapnel and get a 2+1 Stratagem combo. Just to blow s**t up. No buildings, up to medium armor”.

Several players, probably missing Hellmire, pointed out that you could never have too much fire. Desxon noted: “Imagine you turn a fire tornado into an explosive device with a gas launcher”. Now, that’s a terrifying idea, yet we’d love to try it out.

Many players were all for fire and gas interacting, as long as it was in the form of an effective explosion. One Redditor stated: ” Make it so if you do decide to explode the gas that it gets rid of any remnant flames and it should be fine. Gives you a little more strategic depth to how you use the two mechanics without making it completely busted or invalidating one of them”.

Combustible Gas Might Not Be the Best Idea for Helldivers 2

As you may have expected, most Helldivers 2 players were actually quite concerned by the possibility of gas being flammable in the upcoming Warbond. In theory, that would be great, but you’d have to put a lot of trust into your teammates not to blow you up, or ruin your plan.

One player, sp441, explained: “This has more potential to completely screw over other players. Like laying down a Gas Strike on a breach, then Flamethrower Andy gets overzealous and immediately burns up your gas cloud, rendering it useless”.

Sure, communication is key, but imagine having to explain every single decision you make, and constantly having to remind your teammates not to fire their weapons in a certain area. That would get tiresome really fast.

Sir_Immoral suggested a possible compromise that just might work. This player noted: “It would be better if only beam, arc, or plasma weapons and Stratagems could ignite it. The idea being the gas needs a hotter temperature than fire to ignite. It would also make gas more interesting to use against the Illuminate”.

We’ll all have to wait a bit longer until the Warbond drops, but we can’t wait to see what the devs have decided to do. Until then, prepare for the huge update coming on September 17, as many buffs were announced. See you on the bot front, for Managed Democracy.
