After fighting on both fronts for a while, it’s time for Helldivers to prioritize the bug front for a while. We don’t know what’s lurking in the Gloom, but making a dent in the number of Terminids might help the players find out. Thankfully, the Helldivers 2 community will make a huge dent in that number, as the new Major Order has them picking their favorite Machine Gun to use against the bugs.
The New Major Order Asks the Players to Pick Their Favorite Machine Gun
The developers offered more information and a High Command Briefing on the Helldivers 2 Discord channel. Baskinator, one of the Community Managers, shared details about the DSS and the previous Major Order, as well as the details of the new one.
She noted: “After several battles in multiple systems, The Democracy Space Station has now proven itself a tool for galactic liberation with undeniably nonzero utility. While system recalibrations continue, the Helldivers can count on the support from their new super weapon to take out everything in its path between now and full Freedom”.
As for the new Major Order, the CM shared: “But standard weapons also require constant re-evaluation, which is why the Ministry of Defense is asking the Helldivers to conduct a machine gun weapons efficacy review. The Helldivers may choose between: the M-105 Stalwart, the MG-43 Machine Gun, and the MG-206 Heavy Machine Gun. The first machine gun to reach its designated kill count will be considered most optimally configured for the bug front. Get to killing Helldivers”.
At the time of writing this article, Helldivers have around five days and seven hours left to complete one of the options. Although the MG-43 Machine Gun is in the lead, the M-105 Stalwart is close behind. Unless the HMG users get it together, their favorite weapon will end up in third place.
Helldivers Share Their Theories About the Current MO
Even though Helldivers usually approach MOs with a strategy, this time they decided just to have fun and enjoy the bug massacre. So, devoted Helldivers 2 players took to social media to rave about their favorite machine gun and how much it would contribute to the current Major Order.
It seems that the community thinks the Stalwart will win this one. One player, evasionmann, noted: “I’d love for either of the other two machine guns to win. But, the stalwart against bugs is going to kill farm much faster than the other two”.
TheOneWhoSlurms added: “The heavy machine gun is so much fun on bots. If the order was against them I think it would be a little bit more even. But the Stalwart is just a f**king buzz saw with bugs”.
Of course, many players were interested in finding out the devs’ intentions behind this MO. Many pessimistic Helldivers claim that the best machine gun will get nerfed. Now, as devastating as that would be, it would be hilarious. Other players think the devs will buff the “loser”.
Unfortunately, we don’t know if this MO will have any consequences. Maybe the devs just wanted to allow the players to blow off some steam. Who knows, maybe they just needed to buy some more time to finish a project. We’ll find out soon enough. For Liberty and Super Earth.
