Helldivers 2 Players Suggest Lore Explanations for the Lack of Urban Environments

Since the DSS became operational, several weeks ago, the players have started asking for more new content. Sure, everyone would love for the Illuminate to join the Second Galactic War, however, recent leaks made the players realize it was a while since the devs added a new biome. This, of course, triggered a conversation about new map designs, and, many players requested the addition of cities on the maps. As it turns out, there might be some lore explanations as to why there aren’t any urban environments in Helldivers 2. Devoted players gladly shared their opinions.

Having Urban Environments on All Planets Would Be Amazing

As you know, the majority of Helldivers would simply adore fighting in a city environment. Tall, abandoned buildings, parks, city squares, and lots of concrete would be perfect for that apocalyptic atmosphere. Add some bugs crawling around, or bots coming around the corner, and you have almost every Helldiver’s dream come true.

SparkleFritz raved: “Houses that spawn bots. Roads with sewers that are bug holes. Desolate parks, run-down children’s playgrounds, broken water fountains, abandoned high-rise buildings. So much potential”.

Many players agreed that you should be able to find a city on pretty much every planet, as Super Earth citizens certainly have some settlements. Rohan445 noted: “Urban environments shouldn’t be a planet type. They should appear on all planets with Mission types made specifically for that environment”.

Helldivers Give Lore Reasons for Not Fighting in Urban Areas

You can always count on Helldivers 2 players to come up with some lore that would explain pretty much anything, including the lack of urban environments. Some even suggested that Helldivers were too much for urban areas.

One Helldiver, john_the_fetch, stated: “Lore could be that Helldivers are just too destructive. Urban environments can be reclaimed and rehabilitation can begin. No one wants a 500kg bomb going off in their old neighborhood”.

Another player, gazebo-fan, added: “Helldivers aren’t trained for urban warfare. Helldivers can’t worry about things like “civilian casualties” or “collateral damage” or “you just blew up my infant baby” type things. We have better things to worry about like how many explosives we can fit in a cubic meter”.

We truly appreciate the lore, the light role-playing, and the true dedication. However, the true reason behind the lack of urban areas is purely technical. Hopefully, the devs will come up with a solution for that, Helldivers will get some manners, and get to fight in cities. In the meantime, get to Matar Bay, we have a Major Order to complete. For Liberty and Super Earth.
