The last couple of days have been very exciting for Helldivers. The Helldivers 2 devs kept their promise and ended their 60-day deadline with a patch full of buffs. Weapons such as the Senator and the Purifier are praised and back in the spotlight after being buffed. However, not all players enjoy the overpowered weapons, some insist on nerfs that would make the game feel “more balanced”.
Some Helldivers Call for Nerfs
As always, you can’t make everyone happy. As the majority of players truly enjoy all the improvements, some are unhappy with the devs’ decision to make the game, well, more fun. These players claim that the devs went too far and consequentially made the game too easy and unrealistic.
Sure, finishing off a Bile Titan with a Senator might be a bit over the top, but it’s still extremely satisfying. Also, remember that doesn’t mean you can kill a Bile Titan with a handgun and 6 bullets. It means that the final blow can be made with a Senator. Arguably, you could do that even before the latest patch.
However, the players asking for nerfs were quite vocal with their requests, especially when it came to nerfing the Senator. BarnOwlFan noted: “It’s currently stronger than any sniper in the game, which is funny, but it’s not balanced”.
The Majority of Helldivers 2 Players Are Happy With the Buffs
Well, the Helldivers 2 players who were happy with all the buffs wouldn’t give up easily. Social media is currently overflowing with messages of support to developers and reminders that this version of the game was what the players asked for.
A Redditor noted: “Honestly, it’s good, but not overpowered kind of good. While you can now kill heavier enemies using the Senator, it’s pretty inefficient and slow. It just got better and more consistent at what it excelled at previously”.
Another player, TimeGlitches, explained: “Unbuff the Senator and Make Heavy Pen Primary posts are wrong. The Senator buff is pretty wild I’ll give it that. But, it also feels fucking PEAK as hell to whip it out in a pinch and clutch the Hulk eyeshot, or even finish off a BT to the face. It has 6 shots (more than enough to kill anything that moves) and is honestly a pretty slow reload even with the speed loader”.
Legidragon added: “My main response to the “unbuff the senator” comments is: it has 6 shots. 6. Shots. Helldivers is for all intents and purposes a horde shooter, it may hit hard but it has 6 shots. Good luck taking out a horde with 6 bullets. It is a niche weapon that excels in a quick swap situation”.
Honestly, for us, the main point of Helldivers 2 is to have fun, and, erm, spread Managed Democracy. So, undoing the buffs would probably ruin the players’ experience. We’d suggest you take your strongest weapons and join us on the bug front, current Major Order might seem like a done deal, but those bugs are up to something, let’s show them who’s the boss.
