It’s the holiday season on both Earth and Super Earth. The Festival of Reckoning has begun on Super Earth. So, it’s time to enjoy and celebrate this special occasion. The Helldivers 2 devs offered the players the long-awaited W.A.S.P. and a totally inconspicuous Major Order to mark the Festival of Reckoning.
The Spirit of Reckoning Brought the W.A.S.P. to Devoted Helldivers 2 Players
December 25, 2184, marks the start of the Festival of Reckoning in Helldivers 2. The Arrowhead Community Manager, Baskinator, took to Discord to share the details of the festivities. She briefly explained that the success of the previous Major Order already yielded results.
However, the main topic was, of course, the Festival of Reckoning. She stated: “But today, citizens across the Federation observe one of the most special holidays. A joyous celebration of love, family, and the pursuit of peace: the Festival of Reckoning. The 3-day Festival of Reckoning makes use of the specially-allocated Reckoning Fund, set aside each year to finance an exhilarating expenditure of ordnance against the enemies of Democracy”.
The in-game briefing offered some more information on what you should expect from the Festival of Reckoning. According to the briefing, each of the three days has a designated theme. On the first day of the Festival this year, the Helldivers have access to a bounty of Incendiary Weaponry. At the time of writing this article, all players have the Flamethrower at their disposal.
Not only that, but the High Command truly went all out for this holiday season. The StA-X3 W.A.S.P. launcher is also now available to all players. The in-game notification read: “The Spirit of Reckoning has left a present for all Helldivers, who proved their virtue this year through unhesitating sacrifice in defense of Freedom”. The W.A.S.P. is now waiting for you in your Armory.
The Current Major Order Sends Helldivers to Have Fun
As if the W.A.S.P. and the incendiary weapons weren’t enough of a gift for this year’s Festival of Reckoning, Helldivers 2 players also received some potentially peaceful days with the new Major Order.
The MO states: “Celebrate the Festival of Reckoning by rejoicing in the destruction of Democracy’s enemies”. The only objective is to hold Super Earth when the MO expires in about two and a half days.
Now, some players have expressed concerns about this objective. With everything happening with the Illuminate and the black hole, having to hold Super Earth sounds kind of ominous. However, the veterans know that the Liberty Day Major Order had the same objective. Therefore, this is probably just Super Earth’s way of giving some medals to Helldivers.
Also, thinking that anything could ever threaten the force that is Super Earth is highly undemocratic. We wouldn’t even dare suggest a Christmas invasion.
