On November 21, the Golden Joystick Awards ceremony was held in London. Arrowhead developers received 4 awards at this prestigious ceremony for their achievements in the last 12 months. Helldivers 2 players were overjoyed by their favorite game winning for Golden Joystick Awards, and they gladly praised the devs.
Golden Joystick Awards Celebrates Best Games
Helldivers 2 Community Manager broke the news in a Discord announcement. She noted: “Wow! Tonight at the Golden Joysticks, HELLDIVERS 2 took home Console Game of the Year, Best Multiplayer Game, Best Game Trailer, Critics’ Choice Award. Thank you to everyone who voted! You are truly the best community we could have ever hoped to have! Keep giving ’em hell”.
For those of you in the unknown, these aren’t just any awards. Golden Joystick Awards, previously People’s Gaming Awards, are given to games and developers based on public votes. This ceremony is the longest-running video game award ceremony, as the first one was held back in 1981. So, winning a Golden Joystick means a lot in the gaming community. Winning four means even more.
Helldivers 2 Players Praise the Game and the Developers
Helldivers 2 players worldwide celebrated their favorite game winning four Golden Joystick awards. As you may have expected, the players took this opportunity to praise the developers and all of their efforts.
One player, kuruakama, noted: “I 100% agree on the best multiplayer game. Sure, there have been sometimes when the game became unbalanced, some negative stuff happened blah blah blah. But, that doesn’t get rid of the fact that it’s still a great co-op game”.
Another player, Surveyorman, stated: “Massively deserved. There’s absolutely no other game that came close to Helldivers 2 in terms of multiplayer enjoyment”. And we can safely say that this is absolutely true. Since the game launched, the community has been one of the best parts of it.
