With the Liberty Day activities behind them, Helldivers can now relax and go over everything that has or hasn’t happened. They can also enjoy the long-expected Liberty Day presents. However, some Helldivers 2 players aren’t totally sold on the R-2124 Constitution. These players would love for it to get a buff. Others insist it’s perfect the way it is. What do you think?
Is the Constitution a Good Weapon?
So, as you know, all players received the R-2124 Constitution and the DP-00 Tactical armor for Liberty Day. However, many players were quite unimpressed with the Constitution. The in-game description of this marksman rifle reads: “This ceremonial rifle is modeled after antique relics from pre-Democratic times. It is traditionally gifted to every citizen upon turning 16 to encourage service”.
As for the stats, they are what you’d expect from a ceremonial rifle. Damage is 180, capacity is 5, recoil is 43, and the fire rate is 60. Many players complained that these stats were quite low compared to the recently buffed weapons.
One player, braedog97, noted: “I’m going to start with the indisputable facts: the constitution is a bad gun. It has less damage, a slower fire rate, and fewer bullets than the counter sniper, while also having no scope and terrible iron sights. The bayonet is pretty cool, but otherwise, it underperforms in every way possible. That part cannot be argued with”.
Another player, GrandmaBlues, stated: “Undoubtedly this weapon will get buffed but it’s just crazy to me that people are treating it like just because it’s a sillier weapon, it has no reason to be good. The Senator is a meme and yet it’s still an amazing sidearm on top of that. I don’t get how there are still people vouching for bad mechanics or bad weapons because of “realism” or “being lore accurate” over just having things that are good to use”.
Some Helldivers Wouldn’t Change Anything About the Constitution
However, the majority of Helldivers 2 players didn’t have any problems with the Constitution. Many players pointed out that this was a “meme weapon”, or that it was for ceremonial purposes only. Even if the stats were bad, the bayonet was extremely fun.
FredVonF stated: “I get why everyone is calling it bad, but I’ve had more fun bayonet charging bugs than I have doing anything else in the game for a while. That’s pretty good in my books”. Another player, notmichaelgood, added: “The bayonet is fun to use against all factions and can get you out of trouble, the ammo capacity is amazing and the reload is good for what it gives”.
Surprisingly enough, some Helldivers claimed the bayonet was actually amazing against tanks. One player insisted: “The Constitution bayonet can kill tanks. Just hop on it and smack the vent like 20 times. I’m serious”. InsanityFodder confirmed these claims and even offered video evidence.
That’s simply amazing and we can’t wait to try it out. However, even if it weren’t for that, we’d still love the Constitution. Even if the Constitution simply sat on a shelf and gathered dust, it’s a reminder of the first Liberty Day in Helldivers 2, and it holds a special place in our hearts.
