It has finally happened! Truth be told, we’ve expected nothing less from a community as devoted as this one. As you probably know the Helldivers 2 community on Reddit is enormous (1,5 million members), and the players have finally managed to unite for a large-scale operation called Vanguard Horizon.
What Is Operation Vanguard Horizon?
A group of players came together and formed the Freedom Alliance. This Alliance came up with an event similar to a Major Order. Now, it takes a lot of effort to create an event like this, so we were glad to see it receive a lot of support from the community.
The creators gladly presented Operation Vanguard Horizon to the players. They noted: “Thanks to the Helldivers’ monumental efforts, the DSS is nearing completion. However, intel reveals that the Automatons are intercepting jump packs, alloys, and supply shipments to enhance their lethality.
With the rise of the Jet Brigade, we have credible evidence of a larger offensive that threatens our Space Station. This is a dangerous situation given the threat of the Gloom as well. We urge the Freedom Alliance to gather intel on the Automatons’ activities and assist stranded Helldivers on the western front. With Alliance support, we can ensure the DSS’s safety”.
In addition, the Freedom Alliance shared the Objectives of this event. They offered two options for the players to choose between. The first option is: “Retrieve 3 high-value pickups (Bot heads) from Automaton fortresses at Difficulty 10, or Bug Egg pickups from Mega Nests if the MO shifts to Terminids”.
The second option is: “Complete 3 missions at any difficulty and extract with as many samples as possible for Alliance intel analysis. Prioritize SOS beacons”. The Alliance added: “All personnel are required to announce themselves as Alliance members to stranded Helldivers, to better serve Democracy”.
Helldivers 2 Players Unite for a Common Cause
The organizers asked the players who wanted to participate to report back to the Alliance upon finishing an Objective. You can do so in one of three ways. First, you can report back on this Reddit post. Second, you can post on the r/LowSodiumHelldivers. And third, you can join the Low Sodium Discord and share your experience there.
Now, you might have noticed the name Low Sodium Helldivers a couple of times in the text. The mods of this subreddit worked together with the mods of the official Helldivers 2 subreddit and created this event.
As for what the Low Sodium Helldivers stand for, the description of their sub reads: “A place for citizens who enjoy bringing sweet liberty to the galaxy in a sodium-free way. A place focused on positivity, kindness, and constructive debate. A place where no amount of low-effort complaining, insults or trolling is tolerated”.
