Helldivers have been asking for this for ages! Leakers have some really good news for all the players who can’t decide who to fight. As you know, currently, there isn’t a planet in Helldivers 2 where you can fight multiple factions, but based on the new leaks, that might change soon.
Leaks Show Multiple Factions on the Same Planet
Although this has been a common request for a long while, it was deemed impossible. The devs addressed the issue on several occasions. Basically, when the devs put two factions against each other, they just froze. At the time, the factions were bugs and bots. The devs explained that they had issues with the AI system, preventing the factions from attacking one another.
However, one of the most prolific Helldivers 2 data miners and leakers, IronS1ghts, has made a new revelation. They discovered something quite interesting in the game files and shared it on their X account.
IronS1ghts noted: “(Leak) Multiple factions can attack a planet at once. With the addition of the Mega City system, each city can be individually targeted by a different faction. Making it possible for a planet to be invaded by multiple factions at once”.
Of course, the data miner attached some photo evidence of their discovery. As you can see, Different mega cities are invaded by different factions, all on the same planet. This could be a game-changer.
IronS1ghts added: “Now, cities on other factions do not work yet (similar to the release of colonies), so it just crashes if you load in. But this is a function that is supported by the current system”.
Helldivers Hope These Leaks Might Lead to Big Changes
So, this was quite a revelation. Helldivers 2 players love the idea of having multiple factions all on one planet, and these leaks were quite exciting. Furthermore, they seemingly open a door to quite a thrilling future.
This system, with multiple factions in different mega cities, bypasses the AI issues. However, the players hope that the devs maybe managed to solve the issues. As you know, the SEAF troops have been added in the latest update, and they are fighting the Illuminate just fine.
Drew R noted: “Given how the SEAF has AI that will fight rather effectively against the squids, does this make sense that they fixed the issues they claimed about the AI freezing up when they tried to make the factions fight? Thus allowing bot vs bug vs squid combat possible”.
Obviously, game development is quite hard and demanding, so we can’t know if or when this could happen. Still, the players are extremely thankful that Arrowhead listened to them. Hijinks stated: “Wow, they actually listened to the feedback about people wanting two factions on one planet. Now just have to have both factions in a single level”.
