Does playing on level 10 difficulty feel just fine, whatever? Many players have been asking for level 11, but the devs have been tight-lipped about what’s coming on May 13. However, suppose you’ve been feeling a bit bored playing on level 10 difficulty, and you want to challenge yourself further in Helldivers 2. In that case, the community has some tips on how to make your mission a living hell, in the best way possible.

How to Make Level 10 Difficulty a Bigger Challenge

As you know, Helldivers 2 has ten levels of difficulty you can play on. Level 10 was the last one to be added in the Escalation of Freedom update, back in August 2024. Even though many players found it way too hard when it dropped, as time passed, players got used to it.

It was challenging, sure. But, as more and more players started diving on level 10, it started feeling too simple. Of course, there are plenty of newer players who are experiencing level 10 for the first time. They find it terrifying, as they should. Still, the players who have been playing on level 10 for the past nine months need something more. So, what do the players suggest?

No Stims. Abject_Muffin_731 noted: “Just don’t bring meth stims. They’re get out of jail free cards. Not hating, I love ’em, but switching to normal stims really amps up the difficulty, especially vs predator strain and city maps rn. Removing most of the meta boosters will do this. Having less hp and stamina makes it harder to survive, and having 50% ammo when u drop means u value ur life more when ur stocked up”.

Drop into Mega Nests or Fortresses. Proto160 suggested: “To experience what dif 11 might be like. Drop on the Mega Nest/Fortress. It’s chaos. I love it”.

Make it a ground fight. Gharghoyle explained: “No orbitals or eagles. Turn it into a pure ground fight. Turn off the HUD. Add counting your shots to your to-dos”.

Play on levels 8-9. Some players suggested playing on a slightly lower difficulty. The players on those levels might require more help, but these levels are close in difficulty to level 10.

The Need for a Bigger Challenge Initiated an Important Discourse in the Helldivers 2 Community

As you probably know, it’s been more than a month since the last patch, and even longer since some new content dropped. The community is getting antsy, and the players are tired of having to come up with their own ideas to make the game fun. Several Helldivers 2 players pointed out that tying their own hands just to get a bigger challenge, or increase the difficulty, just wasn’t fun.

TheGr8Slayer stated: “The hardest difficulty should be about coordination and well-equipped Divers in my opinion, and not about in what ways we can make the easy game harder by running mid gear or equipment”. Quite a few players agreed with this statement.

Some players suggested it would be cool to see more distinction between the levels. In other words, they would love for the highest difficulty level to be absolute hell, reserved only for the toughest Helldivers out there.

Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait a bit more to see what the devs plan on doing with the difficulties. In the meantime, we can suggest you try out some of the suggestions above, or even ghostdiving, which added a spark to our experience.
