Another Tuesday, another patch! The latest Helldivers 2 patch dropped, and the whole community was confused, as Leviathans supposedly received a nerf. But, is it really a nerf? Because, according to players, it feels more like a buff. Still, it’s not all bad news, as there are plenty of promising changes as well. So, let’s see what the devs have been working on.
The Patch Brought Plenty of Changes
On June 10, Baskinator, the Community Manager, shared the patch notes on the official Discord server. This patch consists of the Stealth Detection Update, Crash Fixes, Balancing, Mission Fixes, and Miscellaneous Fixes.
So, let’s dive in! First up, Balancing. Overall, this patch features plenty of good balancing decisions. The devs started working on armor passives. This time Integrated Explosives and Unflinching received a makeover. As for weapons, the R-2 Amendment was slightly buffed, as well as the P-2 Peacemaker.
As for the enemies, first of all, the Stealth Detection was updated. The patch notes state: “Enemies will no longer automatically detect you when you’re near Terminid spawners or spawners that generate flying enemies. Instead, these spawners will now only activate if an enemy has already identified you as a target”.
Of course, the devs also balanced some enemies. They increased the health of Factory Strider’s feet, disappointing the so-called feetdivers in progress. Overseers and Harvesters were also rebalanced. However, the Leviathans went through quite a change.
The notes explained: “Projectile damage was reduced from 1500 to 350. The intent is to ensure Helldivers are still eliminated on direct impact, while preventing instant destruction of Exosuits and FRVs. Explosion damage and radius from turret shots have been increased to maintain lethality through area denial”.
Furthermore, there were plenty of Crash and Miscellaneous Fixes. The most exciting ones were probably the fixes to the “Take Down Overship” mission, as well as the fixed missing attachments for SEAF soldiers. You can check out the full patch notes here.
The Best and the Worst Aspects of the Latest Helldivers 2 Patch
We always rather start with the bad and work our way up to the good. This patch brought plenty of changes, but Helldivers 2 players agree that the ones to the Leviathans were the most concerning.
One player, qwertyryo, noted: “Make no mistake: the Leviathan was buffed, not nerfed. Sure, the Leviathan won’t one-shot your car or mech anymore. But the mech still dies in 2 hits, which a leviathan can send simultaneously, and the car can be sent flying to its doom or lose its wheels from the (increased) explosive damage; cars will die less but be crippled even easier than before with the explosion changes”.
Another player, frankjack1919, added: “When you’re on foot now, it also means even if it misses you, you will get ragdolled more often. They just didn’t understand that the community thinks it sucks to be one shot without warning from a flying fortress who aims relatively accurately”.
Now, as for the good, this patch brought hope most of all. If you check out the fixes, you’ll see the devs fixed SEAF troops and the “Take Down Overship” mission. That might mean that these will be available again, and, who knows, maybe even the SEAF troop Stratagem.
Similarly, the fact that the devs are working on stealth detection raised players’ hopes that the long-requested Stealth Warbond might be in the works. Ghostdivers were particularly intrigued by this patch note.
So, you win some, you lose some, right? Balancing isn’t easy, and we’re sure the devs will rebalance Leviathans in one of the next patches. In the meantime, good luck! And, don’t worry, the latest Major Order has Helldivers fighting the Terminids, you don’t have to worry about Leviathans, for now at least. For Liberty and Super Earth.
