For a while now it feels like nothing new happened in Helldivers 2. Sure, the Democracy Space Station storyline came to an end, but the fact that the players want to send it into the Gloom shows that the players weren’t impressed. Over the last couple of weeks, the players were adamant about wanting some new content. We’ve seen requests for anything and everything, be it the Illuminates, three-way battles, more customization, or a Special Event. In a recent interview, the devs only added fuel to the fire and raised the players’ expectations even more. Since some of Helldivers 2 players started snowballing into saltiness and despair, the community gently reminded them that patiently waiting for an update was the way to go.
It’s Been a While Since Helldivers 2 Had Some New Content
Helldivers who have been playing since the very start probably remember that in the first six months, the devs issued a patch every Tuesday. The devs released a new Warbond every second Thursday of the month. However, this schedule changed when the devs dropped the Escalation of Freedom update.
As you probably remember, this update “ruined” the game and the devs took 63 days to try to fix everything they could. They succeeded, the game recovered and it was (and still is) enjoyable. However, as the devs were fixing the existent content, they had to. put new content on hold.
At first, the community didn’t mind, as they enjoyed the overpowered weapons and fewer glitches. Still, it’s easy to get used to good conditions, and players started asking for more. Now, we know that Arrowhead is working on new content, countless leaks prove that. However, new content requires time.
One player, Stonkey_Dog, noted: “The bottom line is that it takes longer to create content than it does to consume it. Of course, people who play daily will get bored before new content releases”.
Helldivers Recommend What You Can Do While Waiting for an Update
Helldivers 2 community found common ground and some of the players explained to their fellow divers why waiting for an update wasn’t a bad thing. It meant that Arrowhead was actually working and testing the content before releasing it.
Budget_Childhood2605 stated: “A lot of people have put way too much pressure/expectations on AH wanting content faster than they can make it. We’ve seen how that looks and it’s broken/unfinished content (no hate here, that’s literally what happened). So they took a step back”.
This player added: “The reason y’all are getting bored is because you’re playing every day, of course, you’ll get bored. Imagine eating the same meal every day, or wearing the same outfit every day. You wouldn’t believe how much good changing it up does you, really. If you find yourself burned out, just stop playing for a little bit to recharge”.
We have to agree with this point. You see, a player can still create new scenarios in the game. You can try new builds, or challenge yourself by limiting the resources you’d use. The truth is there is enough content in the game for players to have fun even on repetitive missions. Sure, new content would be amazing, but we truly appreciate that the devs chose quality over quantity.
So, if you are bored and annoyed when you play Helldivers 2, why not take a break? Creating new content takes time, and waiting for it can be overwhelming. If it’s too much, we suggest you try playing something else, there are plenty of great games out there. If you do decide to soldier on, Joel updated the Major Order, so it’s actually doable. We hope you’ll join us. For Liberty and Super Earth.
