Helldivers have had some trouble with the MOs recently, especially with the ones that require making a choice. They win some, they lose some, but overall, it feels like Helldivers are slowly losing the war. The bots are spreading, maybe even going for the Creek, and the Squids have already destroyed Angel’s Venture and Moradesh. Even the bug front is problematic, as the Gloom still covers most of it. Still, the majority of MOs on the bug front succeed, unlike on the bot and Squid fronts. So, since the latest Major Order is on the bug front, Helldivers 2 players shouldn’t have too much trouble completing it, thus fueling the Penrose Energy Siphon and saving Ivis.
The Major Order Sends Helldivers to Collect Fuel for the Penrose Energy Siphon
As always, the Major Order arrived with a briefing that explained what exactly was going on. As you know, the Meridian Singularity, also known as the wormhole and the ex-black hole, has been wreaking chaos. It’s headed toward Super Earth, and the next planet in its way is Ivis.
The High Command previously came up with a plan, but they need lots of E-710 to execute it. The briefing noted: “There can be no further delays to the deployment of the Penrose Energy Siphon. The Helldivers are ordered to immediately commence rapid and aggressive E-710 gathering operations”.
Once the fuel is gathered, the Penrose Energy Siphon will significantly reduce the Dark Energy accumulation, thus slowing the Meridian Singularity. So, the only thing the Helldivers have to do is squish lots of bugs.
This week, Helldivers have to liberate two planets and harvest enough E-710 to secure the deployment of the Penrose Energy Siphon. The planets in question are Bore Rock and Esker. So far, the players are doing a wonderful job, as they managed to get to almost 50% on Bore Rock in the first 13 hours. They have two days and ten hours to finish the job.
Helldivers Appreciate the Devs’ Nod to Penrose
This week’s Major Order, as well as a couple of previous ones, mentions the Penrose Energy Siphon, and it’s actually a clever nod from the Helldivers 2 devs. The name Penrose Energy Siphon was most likely inspired by Sir Roger Penrose, a mathematician, a Nobel Prize laureate, and much more.
One player, vvvRavenvvv, explained: “He is the one that proposed the Penrose mechanism for Trajectories of bodies in a Penrose process. We are using the same principle with a rocket to drag out as much energy out of that black hole as possible”.
Even though the majority of Helldivers aren’t physicists, everyone can appreciate the effort that the devs put into the research. It’s details like this one that show the player base how devoted the devs are. Also, it’s always fun to learn something new.
So, dear Helldiver, will you join us on the bug front? We’ll be diving on Bore Rock for the time being, but the moment it’s liberated we’re moving on to Esker. Hopefully, we’ll see you there. For Liberty and Super Earth.
