Ugh, there’s nothing more annoying than waiting for some new content, right? Well, at least, partially. According to some Helldivers 2 players, content droughts wouldn’t be nearly as tiresome if the Major Orders were better thought-out.
Some Helldivers Want New Content ASAP
There’s been a lot of requests for some new content recently. One could argue that Helldivers got two new bug strains. Players valiantly fought the Predator and the Spore Burst bugs on their first expedition into the Gloom. Even though these missions were quite fun, they were a one-time thing, at least for the time being. Thus, some players expressed their dissatisfaction on social media.
One player, thecolebrew, noted: “I have nearly 500 hours on the game (Day 1), I’ve gotten a decent chunk of ppl to play, and I want this game to succeed. As it stands, the game is worth the price of entry for casuals and new players, but the vets and hardcore audience’s “needs/wants” aren’t being met. The space between story and content is starting to thin my patience”.
Now, as you probably know, Arrowhead usually drops a bigger update (full of new content) every 4 months or so. Since the last one of these was in December, when the Illuminate joined the Second Galactic War, players are hoping another one will drop soon.
The Helldivers 2 Community Agrees More Concise MOs Would Help Them Through Droughts
Surprisingly enough, many Helldivers 2 players don’t really mind content droughts. Repetitive and long “filler” Major Orders are what annoys them. This community has proved time after time that it’s quite patient when it comes to new content, however, the players need some more variety in the game.
Rachmaninoff1945 stated: “Personally, I think the Major Orders last too long and cover a bit too much in terms of their objectives. It’s probably just a personal preference but I’d rather have shorter, more defined Major Orders than 5-day long ones which give us Herculean tasks. I think shorter Orders would drive the story a bit more actively”.
Also, some players claimed that the MOs were sometimes impossible to finish. Sithishe elaborated: “I just don’t like when AH sets up unrealistic MOs, and it creates drama and community division. Squid MOs should be the ones that 4k people can complete. Bot MOs should not have kill counts, etc. MOs should be realistic per audience that plays faction”.
Truth be told, Arrowhead sometimes has high expectations of players. Unfortunately, the factions won’t unite for every MO, and this has caused a lot of tensions in the community. Most recently, the botdivers accused the bugdivers of being responsible for another MO failing.
So, dear devs, try giving more concise Major Orders, it might be a nice change of pace while the players wait for new content. As for you, dear Helldiver, we’ll meet you on the botfront, the Major Order still isn’t over, so let’s give it our best try. For Liberty and Super Earth.
