It’s been more than three weeks since the last patch, and even more time has passed since some new content dropped. Lately, the community has been quite vocal about needing something new, be it new enemies, new defense missions, or just new levels. Many Helldivers 2 players insist they need some kind of new progression system, or at the very least, some sinks for all the resources they’ve accumulated.
The Personal Progression System Needs Some Work
This is quite a complex topic, but let’s break it down! Back in December 2024, one dev, Sephez, addressed the problem with the progression system. Basically, it was (and probably still is) hard to find a balance between personal and community progression. The same dev stated they had some ideas, but we haven’t heard anything about it ever since.
Well, the more time passes, the number of players stuck on level 150 increases. Plenty of players are stuck, maxed out, and the only challenge they have is in the form of Major Orders. However, these can frustrate the players even more, as some fail just because the community finds them boring.
Background_Source922 noted: “End of mission stats/XP/Samples (and even medals for maxed warbond players) are meaningless and hollow now. Every single currency system is useless (except medals every 6~ weeks). The high-value pickups are a slam dunk idea… if the reward or impact of getting them mattered at all in the slightest bit. And no… donating to the DSS isn’t a good enough reason to care about Samples”.
Helldivers 2 Players Would Be Content With New Currency Sinks
The truth is that many Helldivers have found the game slightly boring and repetitive lately. Obviously, some storylines need to unfold for the sake of the community, but if there were a better personal progression system and some currency sinks, Helldivers 2 players would be much more patient.
All the way back in August 2024, Pilested, the CCO, teased weapon upgrades and customization. Something as customizing your weapons or armor could easily solve the need for more content.
Drago984 noted: “The price could be super high and the rewards could be as simple as add x color trim to helmet”. HatfieldCW added: “I still think there should be a way to pay enormous amounts of in-game currency to palette swap my armor sets to black and yellow”.
Truly, it could be as simple as introducing color customization. The fact is, the players need some personal goals, not just the community ones. Of course, community goals are also important! That’s why we’ll meet you on Fenrir III, for the current Major Order. For Liberty and Super Earth.
