It’s high time something happened, wouldn’t you agree? It’s been three weeks since the previous patch, and there hasn’t been any new content for… a while. Even though some leaks claim an update will drop soon, the devs have only confirmed working on various fixes. However, it seems that the devs weren’t joking when they said there wouldn’t be an update on April 22. Well, the most optimistic Helldivers 2 players think that an update could drop later in the week, as the current Major Order could end in an invasion of Super Earth.
Could the Major Order Lead to an Update for Helldivers 2?
By now, you’ve probably seen that Helldivers have to fend off Squid attacks for the latest Major Order. However, for the first time since the Illuminate joined, there is some logic behind their attacks.
You see, the Squids are hitting various research centers all across the galaxy. That’s quite curious, right? Sure, it makes sense that they’d want to destroy the construction site of the Repulsive Gravity Field Generator on Pilen V. They want the Meridian Singularity to continue destroying planets. But, attacking Turing and the Xenoentomology Center seems a bit too much.
Obviously, some more imaginative Helldivers immediately suggested some pretty complex theories. Overall, the Squids would continue attacking various centers, but in the end, they’d attack Super Earth for a grand finale.
The majority of theories share one common idea: the new Illuminate units will arrive for the invasion of Super Earth. Jagick explained: “My theory, based on the much taller and more dense urban environments that were a work in progress that were shown during one of Arrowhead’s streams, is that they will directly attack Super Earth when their new units appear / their full force arrives and attacks”.
How Probable is the Invasion of Super Earth?
Something huge would have to happen in order for an invasion to happen, that’s for sure. Even though many Helldivers 2 players would love for the Squids to finally attack Super Earth, that would be quite an escalation of the Major Order. Of course, that would be so fun, but don’t expect it to happen before the rest of the Squids arrive. Why? Well, Helldivers offered some quite convincing reasons.
RaccoonKnees noted: “It’s pretty reasonable to assume Super Earth is extremely well protected. Probably has entire fleets of Super Destroyers and orbital blockades. Realistically, Super Earth probably has multiple DSS-like stations, but just for Earth”.
Human_Bean0123 added: “When you do the tutorial, you can see that Mars has a Station like the DSS orbiting it. So there’s definitely at least 1 on Super Earth too”. Well, if Mars has one, Super Earth probably has a dozen.
In other words, it would take an extremely well-developed army to reach Super Earth. The current Illuminate units could never achieve that. Remember Calypso? Helldivers absolutely obliterated the Squids, even though it was an extremely high-level attack.
So, dear diver, if this MO ends with an attack on Super Earth, you can expect the new Illuminate units as well. However, we wouldn’t hold our breath, as the devs haven’t indicated that any new content would come. Join us on Turing, for the time being. For Liberty and Super Earth.
