It’s finally here! The wait is over. Starting December 20, you can get the Fast Reconnaissance Vehicle (FRV) Stratagem. Helldivers 2 players were quite pleased by the addition of the first-ever vehicle (not counting the mechs). So, what should you know before getting the FRV?
Helldivers 2 Developers Announce the New Vehicle Stratagem
As you know, the FRV was added in the Omens of Tyranny update. It was available to everyone on that first mission against the Illuminate on Calypso. At the time, the devs revealed that the Super Earth scientists were working on making the FRV available to Helldivers at all times.
Well, being patient paid out, as the devs presented the FRV Stratagem on December 20. Baksinator, the Helldivers 2 Community Manager, took to Discord to announce the addition of the new vehicle.
She noted: “Production of the Fast Reconnaissance Vehicle (FRV) has resumed. The vehicle will soon be available for fleetwide requisition. Significantly, millions of colonists are also now safe. The FRV stratagem is now available for players to purchase using requisition for use vs both bots and bugs”.
As for this brand-new Stratagem, well, the stats are looking quite good. It’s a lightly armored recon vehicle mounted with a heavy machine gun. The call-in time is 10,5 seconds, and the cooldown is 480 seconds. You can get it for 25k requisition slips. The cherry on top? You get unlimited uses.
Helldivers Already Love the New Addition
As you may have expected, the devoted Helldivers are loving the new vehicle. Sure, it’s hard to navigate and lots of divers lost their lives on a joyride, but it’s extremely fun. Also, with this many crashes, we totally understand why the devs decided to give the divers unlimited uses.
CheetahNo9983 suggested: “I think this should be the case with all transports and mechs. I HATE anything that has a limited number of uses! You are ALWAYS waiting for the last “right moment” that may never come. And here, yes, it has a long reload, but you are not afraid to use it and end up without a Stratagem at all”.
As for the opinions about the FRV, the majority of them were quite positive. Opposite-Flamingo-41 raved: “I may be wrong, but imo this is the best implementation of a warthog-like vehicle in video games. It handles just like you would expect it. Very fast, very light, and very responsive to your inputs. It has big a** tires and it is VERY light, I expect it to be hard to get used to, but when you do”.
Truth be told, we’ve already flipped it a bunch of times and the tires pop quite easily. However, we love it as much as the rest of the community. So, while we wait for the black hole to spew out the rest of the Illuminate units, we’ll be driving around the bot front, searching for the resurfaced Terminator bot. Will you join us?
