Over the last month or so the Helldivers have had it rough. Unfortunately, the long-expected update was a bust, and the subsequent patch annoyed even more players. The developers insisted they’d fix the issues, but the player base was doubtful. Well, for all of you who have been patiently waiting, we might have some wonderful news. According to some sources, Helldivers 2 developers are currently testing the upcoming patch, thus delivering on their promise to improve the thoroughly test content before they release it.
The Developers Are Seemingly Testing the New Update
One devoted Helldiver, The–Bluey, reported noticing something strange while tracking the progress of Helldivers 2 on SteamDB. Under the category depots, there was a new depot, named “Playtest_branch”. If you are unsure what a depot is, the OP explained: “A depot is a build of a game unreleased to the public, background developer stuff uploaded to Steam servers while it is public information you cannot download or join it without a password”.
Basically, the devs are play-testing another version of the game. Now, if this wasn’t convincing enough, the OP received further confirmation of their theory. They noted: “An arrowhead volunteer also a moderator; Either forgot me on his Steam friends list or maybe he liked me i don’t know. I saw him playing Helldivers and on my social tab which said “Playing a different version of this game”, so I couldn’t join him”.
Keep in mind that these are one person’s conclusions, but, honestly, we are hopeful that the OP made a correct assumption. That would mean that the Helldivers 2 developers were actually listening to the players, testing their patch, and ironing out the bugs before they released it. That would be an enormous step in the right direction for Arrowhead.
Helldivers Are Hopeful More Testing Will Produce a Better Patch
The Helldivers 2 community welcomed the news, as everyone was hoping the devs would finally hear them out. Some players called this a beacon of hope, especially since the community’s morale has been at an all-time low.
Many players stated how this news made their day. One of them, zombie_loverboy, noted: “This is great news! Thanks for sharing! And thanks for spreading positivity. The negativity is so draining”. Honestly, it truly is, it’s wonderful to see new hope being born in the Helldivers 2 community.
Other players were impressed by Arrowhead’s decision to thoroughly test the content. ThorThulu said: “They’ve basically admitted the testing they do isn’t anywhere near good enough. It is nice that they admitted it and are actually doing better. I’m pretty hopeful for the next 60 days, and btw 3 weeks have already passed so we should be getting something soon”.
We have to admit, we are quite excited for the upcoming patch. How about you? What would you like to see fixed? Until the developers test everything, we’d suggest you join us in the current Major Order, as it might bring the players more than it seems.
