All Helldivers, especially the veterans, are constantly on the lookout for something to sink their resources in. The Democracy Space Station proved to be a good choice for that, however, it didn’t bring any personal progression. One Helldivers 2 developer recently revealed what they look for in future personal progression systems. Of course, players took it upon themselves to find some good solutions.
Helldivers 2 Dev Shares What the Hold Up Is With Personal Progression Systems
On December 10, one of the devs, Sephez, answered some of the players’ questions on the official Discord channel. Several players were interested if any personal progression “sinks” were in the works. The dev explained what the biggest problem was when it came to these “sinks”.
They noted: “With progression, the trickiest part is the friction between personal progression and community goals. I can go into depth on this but it could potentially be a blog post now that I think about it”.
Of course, they didn’t leave the players hanging. They disclosed that they were trying to find a balance between personal and community goals. This dev stated: “Yeah, I’m looking into what kind of personal progression systems we’d like to add that also benefits the community at large”.
Helldivers Offer Possible Solutions
Helpful Helldivers 2 players were more than happy to offer ideas for personal progression systems. As you know, players on higher levels don’t have anything to spend their resources on. This has been a problem for a while so it would be cool to see it solved.
One player suggested: “I think it would be neat to have some cosmetics that are tied to completing challenges. Like getting 100,000 kills with the machine gun gives you a title “Machine Gunner” or a banner with a machine gun. Something to show other people our playstyle”.
Now, this is a wonderful idea, as it wouldn’t give the players an unfair advantage, but it would still give them something to work towards. These challenges could maybe allow players to stand out from the crowd, so they would be motivating enough.
RV__2 added: “Some kind of ‘citizenship level’ that can be used to give benefits to you and your mates for an operation would be cool. Every level unlocks new temporary bonuses you can spend req slips on for an operation”.
Another Redditor suggested: “Maybe look at something similar to DRG, where you can choose a number of weekly goals to do (say 3 goals out of 6 options) and do them at your own pace. Hand those in for a new currency, which then allows you to augment your gear (e.g. adding an ‘element’ or armor pen to a weapon, allowing armor to have its bonus swapped), or even eventually offering things like a 5th Stratagem slot”.
As you can see, the majority of ideas were either temporary bonuses or new cosmetics, which seems completely fair. Do you have any ideas? Maybe you can share them with the community, while we wait for new content. For Liberty and Super Earth.
