It’s been less than two weeks since the Illuminate joined the Second Galactic War, and the players are already asking for more. As you probably know, the Illuminate had quite a roster in the First Galactic War, but now they only sent the vanguard with several units. Thus, the Helldivers 2 players are getting a little antsy to face some new Illuminate units, as soon as possible.
Helldivers 2 Players Would Love for the Illuminate to Be More Challenging
Fighting against the Illuminate is extremely fun. Everything is new and the usual builds don’t really work on them. So, the Helldivers got to test out more weapons and find out what works best on the current Illuminate units.
However, that initial phase of excitement and scrambling to find the best builds is slowly coming to an end. Players are getting used to fighting against the Squids, and they’d love to see some more challenging opponents soon.
LucatIel_of_M1rrah noted: “The Illuminate need more threatening units. The Illuminate are unique as a faction in that they do not require AT weapons at all. All their units are made of tissue paper and die when you look at them funny. With this in mind, you would expect each unit to be deadly, except they are not even remotely scary”.
They added: “At the moment we have a faction whose most threatening unit is on par with the chaff of other factions and as a whole package the Illuminate are pure spectacle. People think they are awesome because they look cool and lasers are flying everywhere. However, if you actually focus on gameplay, there is none. It’s all smoke and mirrors you are NEVER at risk of dying as they pose no actual threat”.
New Units Might Be Coming Soon
Most players kind of agreed with this stance. With everything currently happening in the game, expectations are quite high. Although the players have been extremely patient, they’d love to see something happening soon.
As you know, the black hole has been acting up, and the Illuminate have been making their way toward it. Of course, we can’t forget about all of the leaks that have been circling on the internet. Recently, one leaker revealed a Special Event was in the works, a planet will collide with Klen Dahth II. Other leaks showed images of a huge Illuminate ship and some new Illuminate units.
If you take into account the fact that the current Major Order has the players clearing out planets around the black hole and that it’s supposed to end on Christmas, it’s crystal clear why many Helldivers expect a huge Illuminate invasion as a present for the holidays. Presumably, some of those new Illuminate units will give Helldivers 2 players a new challenge.
So, for the time being, meet us on Fenrir III, let’s try to do our duty and follow the orders. We’ll bring the new FRV, to squish those bugs even more efficiently. For Liberty and Super Earth.
