Has a dev ever joined your team? Recently, there have been many rumors of devs testing the game by joining random missions. Many players reported being joined by Helldivers with brightly colored names with the ability to summon weapons out of thin air who represented themselves as developers testing out features. However, if you have stumbled upon a player acting like that, they were misrepresenting themself. Helldivers 2 Community Manager addressed these rumors and issued an important PSA about these “devs”.
An Important PSA on Players Misrepresenting Themselves as Devs in Helldivers 2
One Community Manager, Baskinator, decided to put a stop to the rumors. She took to Reddit and wrote a PSA explaining that those “devs” were misrepresenting themselves. The CM also advised the players to be cautious and not to trust unofficial sources.
She noted: “I’ve seen some threads going around our collective subs about Helldivers with different colored names and markers, along with speculation that these might be developers testing the game in a live environment. Let’s put some rumors to bed”.
This Community Manager continued: “First: At present, we do not have/utilize any devtags or other developer identifiers or markers in the game when we play. Our names look just like yours when we play HD2. Second: We do not test the game in a live environment. If someone tells you they’re a developer and they start spawning items or other strange behaviors, that person is using exploits to do it. Be vigilant, sweet Helldivers. Report dissidents to your Democracy Officer”.
Helldivers Share How to Change the Color of Your Name
This PSA about fake devs in Helldivers 2 elicited some big reactions from the community. Players were mostly grateful to Baskinator for addressing this seemingly growing issue. However, for some Helldivers, this was a magnificent revelation that they could change the color of their names.
EnderB3nder noted: “For anyone wondering how it’s done, you add an ARGB code to your Steam nickname. For example: <c=ffe580ff> Nickname </c> (where “nickname” is your in-game name) – this will change your name to a pink color. As a side note, some emojis and symbols also work. Press windows key + . to bring up the emoji menu and add it to your Steam nickname”.
We expect a lot more Helldivers with various colored names very soon, so at least that will reduce some of the confusion. In the meantime, the Major Order is in progress, and the DSS might get some improvements soon, so let’s meet up out there. For Liberty and Super Earth.
