It happened again! After Angel’s Venture and Moradesh, another planet is sadly lost to the Meridian Singularity. Sadly, Ivis was lost without much pomp, and the Helldivers 2 players weren’t much invested in saving it. However, some Helldivers claim this had to happen in order for the rest of the Illuminate units to arrive, which could be quite soon, at least according to some predictions.
What Happened to Ivis?
As you probably know, the Meridian Singularity, fueled by the Illuminate, was making its way toward Super Earth. However, by completing a recent Major Order, Helldivers managed to slow down the Singularity. It lost its momentum, and it won’t be able to reach Super Earth.
Unfortunately, the Singularity didn’t come to a complete stop, and the planets on its way to Super Earth were still in danger. Since Angel’s Venture and Moradesh were destroyed almost exactly a month apart, the players expected they’d have some more time before Ivis suffered the same fate.
So, after the Popli IX victory, Helldivers were surprised when an alert popped up. It informed them of the Singularity’s proximity to Ivis. The disaster happened on April 5. Helldivers watched in shock as the Singularity destroyed another planet.
The High Command issued a dispatch. It noted: “Efforts to slow the Singularity have worked, but, too late to save Ivis. The Illuminate will face Justice for their crimes”. Another fractured planet is a reminder of just how dangerous the Illuminate are.
Some Helldivers 2 Players Believe Something Big Is About to Happen
Some Helldivers 2 players claim that Ivis had to be destroyed for this storyline to unfold. So, according to some players, the rest of the Squid roster is about to join the Second Galactic War. Some leaks revealed that the Obelisks, the Summoners, and the Illusionists have been in the game files for a while now. They are bound to come at some point, but why now?
One player shared 7 reasons why they thought the Illuminate were coming… on April 8. Now, some of the reasons are flimsy, but, truth be told, some are very interesting. So, first of all, the Singularity lost even more momentum because of Ivis. Obviously, it won’t just chill there in the middle of the map, Squids are bound to interfere.
Their second point is that the Singularity destroyed Ivis ahead of schedule. According to some calculations, this shouldn’t have happened for another week or so. Also, the Squids issued some suspicious warnings.
Reasons 5 and 6 are connected, and they give an answer to the question of why April 8? Well, first of all, April 8 will be a Tuesday (patches usually drop on Tuesdays). Secondly, the BAFTA Game Awards are on April 8. The Illuminate first arrived during the Game Awards, so why not continue this trend?
And, finally, according to the OP, Squid invasions now happen further apart, possibly because they are preparing the main fleet. Now, we aren’t sure about this one. The reason could be that the players find the majority of the battles on the Illuminate front, well, boring.
