Since the Illuminate returned, and the black hole is acting up, devoted players are exploring what’s yet to come. As always, Helldivers 2 leaks delivered, this time showcasing two new Illuminate units, the Summoners and the Obelisks. We can almost hear the veterans of the First Galactic War letting out a collective sigh.
Who Are the Summoners?
If you’ve been following Helldivers 2 leaks, you’ve probably stumbled across IronS1ghts. This prolific leaker often shares interesting items that are yet to be added to the game but exist in the game files. Now, you might remember already reading about Illuminate rituals, Summoners will be the ones executing them.
This time, IronS1ghts shared more info about these Illuminate units. The OP noted: “(Leak) The Illuminate Summoner. The Abilities and Attacks for the “Summoner” are now in the files. This is one of the main heavy “cultist” units”.
They continued: “They participate in rituals, contacting “Ancient Forces”, our goal is to eliminate them and stop these rituals. During these rituals, they summon ghouls to aid them in combat (These may have been replaced with voteless, not sure yet). The images shown here are the “spawn” effect for the summoner, along with the old model. Upon spawning in, they will send out arcs of purple lightning”.
The main thing that the players can’t wait to find out is who are these units summoning. The Voteless? The Ghouls? Reddles mused: “It would be interesting to see how ghouls turn out (if they’re not removed ofc). Could easily see them being medium armor Voteless or something akin to Stalkers”.
Leaks Offer a First Look at the Obelisks in Helldivers 2
However, the leaks of the Summoners weren’t the only ones, Helldivers 2 players also got to look at the Illuminate Obelisks. Now, veterans of the first installment of the game know just how annoying these units are.
IronS1ghts noted: “(Leak) Illuminate Obelisk. The Illuminate Obelisk from the first game may be returning. Only the attacks for the Illuminate Obelisk are currently in the files. As of right now, it only has a lightning attack and a projectile attack”.
The OP also posted a video showing the projectiles these units would be using. Some veterans might remember these Obelisks for projecting the energy walls. However, the OP noted that even though this function wasn’t in the files yet, it could be easily added.
While the Illuminate are nearing the Meridia black hole, the only thing that we can do is to try and stop them. So, join us on Gemma, the current Major Order is quite demanding. Let’s set some new records. For Liberty and Super Earth.
