Who would have guessed that the DSS would be deemed a crucial tool less than two weeks after the players slammed it and wanted to send it into the black hole? As it turns out the Democracy Space Station is way more useful than the players thought. During the recent liberation of Vog-Sojoth, Helldivers 2 players made the most progress while the DSS was active. One devoted Helldiver even made a great graph that proves this.
The DSS Had a Huge Impact on the Vog-Sojoth Liberation
As you know, Helldivers successfully completed the latest Major Order for which they had to liberate as many planets as they could. One of the planets that the community chose was Vog-Sojoth. However, even though they tried, the devoted Helldivers couldn’t even make a dent, until the DSS arrived.
One player, pinglyadya, showcased “the true power of the DSS” in a slightly edited graph taken from the third-party site helldivers.io. This player simply marked the period during which the DSS was active.
Let’s break down this graph. Let’s start with the two white lines, they mark the period during which the DSS was active. The red line shows the number of players on Vog-Sojoth, while the blue line shows the liberation progress. The orange line represents the regen rate, which was at 1,5% for the entire time.
Now, as you can see, while the DSS was active, the blue line (the liberation progress) experienced steady growth. While it was close to 0% once the DSS showed up, once it left Vog-Sojoth was almost 70% liberated.
The number of players (red line) also peaked during the active period of the DSS. At its highest, the number of players on this planet was at around 25k. Unfortunately, once the DSS left, the number of players severely dropped. At the time of writing this article, only around 1.5k Helldivers are fighting the losing battle on Vog-Sojoth. It is now at around 50% liberation.
Helldivers Are Starting to Appreciate the Power of the DSS
Many Helldivers 2 players were quite disappointed that so many players left Vog-Sojoth the moment the DSS stopped being active. This seems to be becoming a problem and players have valid concerns for the future.
SpendZealousideal237 noted: “We seem to have commitment issues with the DSS. We keep getting planets to like 90% and then the DSS moves and the planet doesn’t liberate. WE NEED TO FINISH THE JOB. High command is starting to think we’re slackers”.
Still, the community is fascinated by the DSS’ capability to unite the players. RaphaelFrog stated: “It’s one of the best tools to gather the attention of the blob. Most people would spread out thin around the planets, but DSS is doing a really good job at gathering attention… Especially with one of its abilities active”.
Well, as you know, the devs are preparing some cool new things, reportedly including the expansion of the DSS. So, maybe it’ll become easier to manage, we’ll see. Until then, let’s try to spread some Managed Democracy on our own. For Liberty and Super Earth.
