Yet Another Devastating Nerf Renders One of Fortnite’s Favourite Guns Borderline Pathetic

Fortnite’s nerf bat keeps on swinging. In a recent hotfix, another popular weapon in Chapter 4: Season 3 of Fortnite has been readjusted. The Explosive Repeater Rifle will now deal less damage to structures, which on the surface might not seem like a huge change. But when we consider how the gun was utilized, we realize that the change is larger than it seems. As always, the Fortnite community had strong opinions about the nerf.

Fortnite Community Reaction to the Explosive Repeater Nerf

The nerf to the Explosive Repeater Rifle was announced through the Fortnite Status Twitter account, making the previous predictions official. The tweet simply stated “The Explosive Repeater now deals less damage to structures”, but that was enough to get the community talking.

On the one hand, we have players who already thought that the gun was “a bit much”. Now that it was nerfed, they want Epic to just “Vault it”, as Ship says. On the other hand, however, there are players who think Epic didn’t go far enough. For example, Ares Jake states “W step, but it still could use more nerfs”.

But decidedly the most replies to the post are simple exclamations of “Nooooo”. Players loved to use the Explosive Repeater, and it truly shined when using it with the “skybase” strategy in Battle Royale mode. This nerf to structure damage could be the exact counter to this strat, as it would make it harder to snipe players who take cover in their structures.

Some players see this nerf as another issue with the season as a whole. Season 3 was already received poorly by many, so another nerf sounds like validation. Among the popular replies to this fact, Gophxr says “…and the L train continues on! What a complete waste of a season.”
