The Oblivion Remaster is the talk of the town, especially these last couple of days. Rumors and leaks are all over the place, as the fans wait for some official info. And on the note of leaks, some new ones reveal how much storage space you will allegedly need to install The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remaster, and when can we expect an official announcement (or a shadowdrop, according to some folks).
Released almost 20 years ago, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is one of the most popular ES titles (with Skyrim taking the first place). And when rumors that a remake is being made started circling, the fans went crazy. In these last couple of weeks, we’ve all heard tons of rumors about the game, and one of the freshest is how much storage space you’d need.
The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remaster – Leaks Reveal How Much Storage Space Will Be Required
On April 20, data miners known as X0X LEAK revealed that for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remaster, you will need around 120GB of storage space on your hard drive. The majority of players believe that Unreal Engine 5 is to blame, as it is notoriously poorly optimized. For the record, the original Oblivion needed only 5GB, so this is a considerable jump.
While PC users can handle this requirement pretty easily, console users are in a rough spot and will, no doubt, have to delete some other games to free up 120GBs of space for Oblivion.
[UPDATED] Official Announcement Right Around the Corner (or Maybe even a Shadowdrop)
According to various sources, April 21 is the date when Bethesda will reveal an official announcement for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remaster, and they did.
Earlier leaks suggested that the game will most definitely be released before May. Jeff Grub recently stated that the game will be shadowdropped on the week of April 21. While a lot of folks say that a release is imminent, the chances of Bethesda releasing the game without announcing it first are small at best. But, it is not unheard of (that is what a shadowdrop is, anyway).
And now, it is official, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remaster reveal is scheduled for April 22, at 11am ET / 8am PT / 4pm BST, via Twitch and YouTube.
We still do not know whether it is only a reveal, or if the game will also get shadowdropped at the end of the live stream. That is not unheard of and would make sense, considering all the leaks and rumors we heard up until now. Just a few hours more!
