The Game Awards 2024 have just concluded and boy oh boy, was it a marathon. It lasted something short of four hours and we witnessed the ever-popular awards ceremony, and some announcements and reveals for upcoming games. For the former, it is no secret that Astro Bot took the prestigious Game of the Year 2024 award, and rightly so. As for the latter, we saw a bunch of great-looking reveals, but the one we’re focusing on today is the new DLC for Elden Ring, called Nightreigh. Moreover, Elden Ring Nightreign will have a Network Test and the registration date has been revealed.
Elden Ring: Nightreign DLC
The Game Awards was held on December 12, and there we witnessed the trailer video for the next Elden Ring DLC. Titled Nightreign, this is more of a roguelike game mode than a continuation of the story. It encourages co-op play since you can either go solo or in a team of three. Players can choose between eight playable classes and outlast three day-and-night cycles.
Just like in roguelike games, if you fall, you’ll be sent back to the beginning, but richer for the experience. “Unsuccessful runs will grant players relics to allow them to customize and upgrade their characters tailored to their personal play styles.” At the end of each night, the players will have to face a powerful boss, and at the end of the final night, you must defeat the chosen Nightlord. As for the endgame, Bandai Namco said: “Successful runs against the night bring players ever closer to defeating the realm of the Nightlord and unraveling the story behind each Hero in this parallel world.” encouraging you to try out different classes each time.
UPDATE: The Network Test Run Is Suffering From Server Issues, Preventing Many From Playing
The registration has been over for a while now, and the Network est run is well underway. Unfortunately, the servers apparently crashed, and on February 14, the devs posted:
“Nightfarers, The #NIGHTREIGN PlayStation servers are currently under maintenance. Work is ongoing to restore server functionality. Further updates will be provided. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
The fans are hoping FromSoftware will extend the test duration to compensate for this.
Elden Ring Nightreign Network Test Registration Date
The DLC is scheduled for May 30, 2025, but there is a test run, a Network Test to be specific. As per the official website:
“Network test will be coming in February. Registration will start from January 10th. The network test is a preliminary verification test in which the selected testers play a portion of the game prior to the full game launch. Various technical verifications of online systems will be examined by conducting large-scale network load tests.”
Hopefully, the issues will get resolved as soon as possible.
