Elden Ring DLC Is Not Eligible for BAFTA Best Game Award

BAFTA, or British Academy of Film and Television Arts, holds an annual British awards ceremony for “creative achievements in the video game industry”. BAFTA started hosting video game awards all the way back in 2004, and the 21st iteration will be held on April 8, 2025. And now, a longlist of 58 games has been announced that will be considered for one (or more) of the many awards. But we have some sad news for Elden Ring fans. It turns out that the Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, is not eligible to get the BAFTA Best Game Award.

Elden Ring DLC Will Not Be Taking Any Awards at the BAFTA Game Awards

On December 10, the BAFTA announced a longlist of all the games that will be considered for the BAFTA Game Awards. However, they have a strict policy when it comes to DLCs: “DLC is eligible as part of the consideration for Evolving Game, and in certain craft categories only.”

To add insult to injury, Shadow of the Erdtree isn’t even on the longlist and will not be taking any awards at all. The fact that Shadow of the Erdtree, a DLC, was nominated for the GOTY award at The Game Awards didn’t sit well with a considerable chunk of the gamer population, so this decision by BAFTA may be an answer to that.
