Season of Blood brought some new Uber Bosses with it, and they require special materials to be summoned. Living Steel is one of those, so what is the Tortured Gift of Living Steel in Diablo 4? Read on to see what it is, where to find it, and how to use it.
Uber Bosses are a type of Endgame Boss in Diablo 4. They are extremely challenging but offer some unique loot and cosmetics. Season 2 has five Uber Bosses, each with its own summoning method. Note that these Bosses can only be found on specific World Tiers. To summon Grigoire, The Galvanic Saint, we need to find some Living Steel.
What Is a Tortured Gift of Living Steel?
In Diablo 4, a Tortured Gift of Living Steel is a special type of chest, found during Helltides. Each contains, among other loot, one Living Steel. To summon Grigoire, you will need two Living Steel if you are in World Tier 3, and five Living Steel if you are in World Tier 4. Note that he only drops Shards of Agony (a material used to summon Echo of Duriel, who has the best chance to drop Uber Uniques) in World Tier 4.
Where to Find Living Steel?
Special chests called Tortured Gift of Living Steel can only be found during Helltide events. They do not appear on the minimap until you are very close so you have to keep your eyes peeled. They look just like Tortured Gift of Mystery chests but need 300 Abberant Cinders to open.
Aberrant Cinders are a type of Helltide currency. You get them by defeating enemies and finishing World Events and can use them to open Tortured Chests. When you find a Tortured Gift of Living Steel chest and try to open it, an Elite mace-wielding guardian, named He-Grins-Wide-and Waits will spawn. After defeating him, you are free to open the chest and get your Living Steel.

How to use Tortured Gift of Living Steel in Diablo 4
After obtaining two (or five in World Tier 4) Living Steel you are ready to summon Grigoire, The Galvanic Saint. To do so, head on to the Hall of the Penitent dungeon in the Dry Steppes. Once there, go to the Chamber of Penitence and find the Light-Touched Altar in it, where you will drop off Living Steel to summon Grigoire.
If you happen to get killed by Grigoire, you’ll have to repeat the whole process. He is heavy on Lightning-based attacks so be sure to improve your Lightning Resistance (for example, with elixirs or gems). Good luck.
Will Grigoire Stay in Season 3?
As far as we know, yes. Uber Bosses, like Grigoire, will carry over to Season 3. They are on the Eternal Realm as well as on the Seasonal. The downside is that the Eternal Realm does not support the new seasonal mechanics, so the fight will probably be a little tougher.
