Do you have trouble finding and unlocking the Alchemist NPC in Diablo IV? Fear not, we’re here to help you, so keep reading to find out everything.

Even demon slayers need some help every now and then. In Diablo IV you can seek out the help of an Alchemist to acquire very useful tinctures and potions. These NPCs man the shops around the world, where you can buy and craft potent buffs to help you on your journey. However, you don’t start out the game with access to one, so in this guide, we will explain how to find the first Alchemist in Diablo 4 and what they can do for you.

How To Get the Alchemist in Diablo 4

When you start out in Diablo 4, you won’t have access to many NPCs and stores, and will instead need to unlock them as you progress. When you reach Level 10, you will receive a Priority Quest that requires you to go to the Alchemist shop in Kyovashad.

After following the quest to the Alchemist named Veroka, you will be tasked with upgrading your starting Weak Healing Vial to Tiny Healing Vial. This quest requires that you have gathered 8 Gallowvines along the way. If you haven’t, it’s easy to go out of the city and find some Gallowvine.

Completing this task will fully unlock the Alchemist and you will be able to buy and craft different consumables like potions, elixirs, and incense. However, Veroka is not the only Alchemist in the game — there are others scattered in different regions of Sanctuary.

What Does an Alchemist Do?

In Diablo 4, Alchemists are merchant NPCs that provide the player with access to buying and crafting potent buffs. These buffs come in the form of upgradeable Healing potions, Elixirs that increase specific stats for a time, and Incense that provides a timed aura stat buff. Alchemists can also help you refine some of the resources that you have gathered on your journey by letting you combine more common materials like Angel Breath into rarer types such as Reddamine or Howler Moss. All of this utility makes the Alchemist a very potent ally on your adventure against the legions of Hell.
