Are you unsure of how to get Healing Potions in Diablo IV? Don’t worry, this article will clear up the confusion and explain everything you need to know.

Healing Potions have been a staple of video games for decades now, and the Diablo series is not free from their influence. Healing potions are the primary way players will heal in combat, so players will need to know how they work to have any success fighting back against the minions of Hell. However, Diablo IV has changed the formula, and the way healing potions work in this game is different from previous titles in the series. Our guide will go through how to get Healing Potions in Diablo 4.

How Do Healing Potions Work?

Healing potions in Diablo 4 are not items in a player’s inventory. Instead, they work as a renewable resource, keeping track of them on the left side of the UI. At the start of the game, players will have access to four healing potions. Players progressing through the game will be allowed to increase both the number of healing potion charges and how much each charge heals.

How To Renew Healing Potions in Diablo 4?

These charges can be renewed by picking up healing potions, often dropped by more powerful enemies or found in chests. Each healing potion picked up will replenish one charge. Healing potions will often drop during boss fights as well. Bosses have tick marks on their health bars. When they are damaged to that amount they will drop the player a few health potions, meaning players will be rewarded as they get through specific phases of a boss fight.

How To Get More Healing Potion Charges

To increase the number of potion charges, players must increase their Renown level in each of the game’s regions, such as Fractured Peaks. Each region of the game comes with its own list of rewards for increasing Renown. Renown can be earned in each region by finding Altars of Lilith, clearing side dungeons, or completing side quests. Once they have raised their Renown to a certain level, players will be rewarded with an extra charge for their healing potion.

How To Upgrade Healing Potions in Diablo 4?

To upgrade their healing potions, players must visit an Alchemist, marked by the pestle and mortar icon on the map. The first they will find is Veroka in Kyovashad, who will give players their first upgrade as part of the main story quest. After every 10 levels, the player can return to an Alchemist to upgrade their healing potion. This will require payment of a certain material cost such as Biteberry, Lifesbane, Angelbreath, Paletongue, or Blightshade depending on the upgrade the play is going for but will upgrade all of the players’ healing potion charges going forward.

For example, players will start the game with a Weak Healing Potion. Once they reach level 10 they will be given the ability to upgrade their potion to a Tiny Healing Potion. To do so, they must bring two Gallowvine to an alchemist, who can then upgrade their potion.

Overall the changes to healing potions seem very intelligent. Gameplay should be easier to balance when the amount of heals a player has is controlled, and world bosses should be more enjoyable when players have to be more careful with their healing. Overall the decision seems like a sound one, and should positively impact the gameplay experience of Diablo 4.
