Have you come across some Flawless Gems, but found no way of crafting them? This article explains how to craft Flawless Gems in Diablo 4, so stick around to find out.

Gems have been around since Diablo 2. They were not easy to come by, and to upgrade them to a higher quality you had to combine them in an item called Horadric Cube. Good times. Since then, we had Jewelers do that for us, with options for combining gems and removing already socketed ones. Diablo 4 is no different, with the added option of adding sockets to items and upgrading jewelry. As Gems come in different qualities, you have most probably found some Flawless Gems during your adventuring in Sanctuary, beating World Bosses or as a quest reward, but no option to craft one yourself. Read on to find out why that is.

Crafting Flawless Gems in Diablo 4

To have the option to craft Flawless Gems in Diablo 4, first, you need to be at least Level 60. As usual, they require three Gems of lesser quality, ie, three standard Gems make one Flawless Gem. Remember that the Gems in question have to be of the same type/color. For example, you can turn three Diamonds into one Flawless Diamond. When you hit Level 50, Flawless Gems are “unlocked” and start appearing in the world around you. As usual, you can get them as loot, find them in containers, ore veins, etc. But only when you hit Level 60 do they appear as an option to be crafted at the Jeweler. To have the ability to craft any Gem in the first place, you have to finish the “Gem Crafting” Priority Quest.

How to Use Flawless Gems?

Flawless Gems are used like any other, you drag-and-drop them in available Socket slots. Their effect will vary from the type of Gem and the type of gear you socket it in. Gems in Weapons usually give offensive bonuses (for example, Rubies give you a bonus to Overpower), gems in Armor give defensive bonuses (Emeralds give you a Thorns bonus) and the ones socketed into Jewelry give Resistances. If you want to remove a socketed Gem, simply visit the Jeweler and you’ll have your Gem back to socket somewhere else or to combine into a better one. The number of maximum sockets an iten can have depends on the item type: Caps, Amulets, Rings, One-Handed Weapons, Focuses, and Shields can have one socket slot. Tunics, Pants, Two-Handed Weapons, and Bows can have two slots. There is a Jeweler in each major city: Kyovashad in the Fractured Peaks, Ked Bardu in the Dry Steppes, Cerrigar in Scosglen, Zarbinzet in Hawezar and Gea Kul in Kehjistan.

Gem Tiers and Bonuses

Gems come in five tiers of power: Crude, Chipped Gems, Standard, Flawless, and Royal Gems. Their effect depends on what item type you socket them in. Naturally, higher-tier Gems give better buffs. Here is a list of Gems and what effect they have based on where they are socketed.
