We love playing in a team, however, everyone enjoys some alone time occasionally. Destiny 2 developers shared some great news, Solo Ops, a brand new activity category would be added in Codename: Frontiers. As you may have expected, the news excited the player base.
What Are Solo Ops?
On October 16, the developers shared the latest Developer Insight, a blog meant to offer players a better look at some of the upcoming changes. This week’s topic, Solo Ops, gave the players something huge to look forward to.
The developers noted: “Solo Ops are short missions that are easy for lone players to jump into, quick to complete, and fun to replay. Solo Ops are 10-minute missions that can be completed by single players or fireteams. They are low-commitment options that still allow you to use Challenge Customization to make progress toward better gear. They are being built for their experiences to stay fresh across repeated plays”.
The devs came up with the idea for Solo Ops once they realized there was something missing. They explained: “We identified a gap in our offerings: short activities that lone players can take at their own pace”.
You’ll be able to launch these activities through the Portal. The target base play time will be 10 minutes. The devs also explained: “We want them to focus on the joy of playing in Destiny’s action sandbox in a way that’s easy to jump into and play in just a few minutes”.
Destiny 2 Players Share Their Opinions on Playing Solo
Destiny 2 players had extremely positive reactions when they heard about Solo Ops. While they praised the devs, they also shared their expectations for these solo missions. Many players pointed out that introducing Solo Ops was a great idea.
One of them, squeezyscorpion, noted: “This is actually great news. I’ve been playing less Destiny because the folks I used to play with don’t play anymore. This will definitely get me back into the game”.
Specific_Display_366 stated: “Sounds good. I would also appreciate it if we could select a solo option for the playlist Vanguard Ops and an easy difficulty Nightfalls. The latter one is actually available during Guardian games, I like it a lot”.
TwiggyFlea added: “Awesome idea. I always thought Destiny would be fun to have a solo combat gauntlet so that you get to have all the game and glory. Hopefully, they go for more difficulty options than what they’re suggesting here. An accessible, more generally rewarding expert or master lost sector type experience would be very fun”.
We’d say we all needed some good news, especially after all the recent issues and the controversy caused by the announcement of Destiny: Rising. Expectations are obviously high, so we hope the devs deliver, as they did with Vesper Station. We can’t wait to try out Solo Ops, how about you?
